Okay, I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes by saying this, but I do agree with Nava. Kids don't need to be bombarded with depressing or even semi-depressing things, it can be detrimental to their own social development. Not to mention, seeing something like that every time they turn around causes the illusion that something like that is not only widely accepted as normal, but also seen as popular or cool.
And as for the parent thing, some parents are much more accepting than others. For instance, I used to be an extremely sheltered child. My parents barely let me out of the house without reminding ten times what the number for 911 was, much less did they let me on the computer without strict parental controls. (*note* They did finally ease up, but that's not the point.) So, some parents could/would be upset seeing something that might encourage depression or behavior akin to it on a children's website.
Again, I'm not trying to insult anyone here.

Well...it doesn't bother me that much and I think it's a bit harsh to ban something like "emo" in a username, to be honest...I think banning it is uncalled for.
I don't know if the rest of the world is the same as where I live but here ALL the kids are always on about "emo", whether they're saying "I hate emo's" or "I am emo" and I think kids are going to learn what it means anyway.

This all depends on the connotation of the word emo. Emo is short for emotional, meaning having emotion. Emo can also mean the emo that most of us associate with depression, self-injury, tight pants, and the color black. If one uses the word emo to suggest the emotional kind, then there's no problem whatsoever. They can have a happy emotion, funny emotion, etc. Unfortuanetly, that connotation of the word emo is not the one most often used; the other one is used more. However, I would not tell somone to change their name just because it has the negative connotation, it's not someone else's place to do so.
