I hate all these stupid off shoots of metal people always give it, its the media most of the time "post- hardcore new age agression metal bullshit" that should be one as the name is just as stupid as the rest. I'm not a huge metal fan but I do like it and it's annoying to see all these types of music people are trying to label into, "neo classical?", "Stoner metal?", "Sludge metal?" what the hell is sludge metal!? And the worst of all "PUNK METAL?" they are two completley different types of music thats like saying 'Pop death metal'.

Rant over, I feel slightly better now

Clearly you haven't a clue. Now I'm not saying these heavy metal sub-genres don't exist, (With the exclusion oh Hardcore metal, which is metalcore, punk metal which is just a stupid pretentious name for hardcore.) just that your an idiot who clearly knows nothing about metal.

Couldn't find a proper metal resource? Probably because you weren't even looking. I could give you directions, but I'd rather watch you fail because that's the sort of person I am.

And starsky_Hiro, Folk Metal is a genre. A few examples: Fintroll, Moonsorrow, Tyr, Turasis, all folk all awesome.

Squival: Sludge metal is a combination of doom metal, drone and hardcore. The most notable sludge bands are Neurosis, Cult of Luna, ISIS (Excluding In the Absense of Truth release which is more post-rock)

Another thing I would like to say just while I'm here.
