Listen, there's been alot of talk lately. About the sites mods and about their actions. Now, mods are just doing their job, they're preventing people from breaking rules on the site...but not all of the mods are doing what they're assigned to. Some of the mods are going out of their way for personal grudges against a certain person, they then ban that person for a long period of time for something they didn't do. Now I'm not saying they all do this, just that some perticular moderators are abusing their powers a little. While I'm at it, I think I'll also adress the mate problem on the site. DON'T TALK MATE TALK IN THE SHOUT BOX OR RP BOX! It says so clearly in the rules! However, I do see it unfit that now we are not allowed to put mate stats on our profiles... That's all I have to say, for now at least. Try to keep your noses clean and obey the rules! CyberTheWolf ( http://arctic_rogue_forum.1.forumsvibe.com/)

Yeeeeah. Well, about that. See, you REALLY shouldn't be taking things too literally. Maybe you came into the middle of a conversation, and in case you haven't yet noticed...some of us are real goofballs... ... O_o ... ... o_O ... ...Anyway, as I was saying, maybe some of us were just...you know... PLAYING? Because if we only came to the shout boxes to say things like, "Stop spamming. Only RP in here. Don't be rude. No, I will not stick it up my a--" ...Well, you get my point. That'd be like having robots for mods, yup? Yes, we joke around. Yes, sometimes we step over certain boundaries [Sometimes, mind you]. And yes...we're very sorry if you feel that's unfair. Suuu...that said, let's get down to the nitty-gritty, shall we? Saying something like, "I would be very lucky if someone finds me attractive?" ...Please tell me you kid. WHO DOESN'T want people to see them as attractive? I want people to see me attractive!! Looool. It's pretty obvious what can be classified as mate talk and just plain...err..."wondering out loud." Just ask anyone. ^^ So just....um......err....dear me, how do I put this in simple terms....Ah yes, here's a thought: LIGHTEN UP. Yes, yes. And before I go, kiddies, ponder thee: The best way to find faults is to look in a mirror. ...So much for wanting to look atractive, right? Wrong!! XD The quote means for you to try and realize that YOU might be doing something wrong. Gasp. Yes, guess what? YOU'RE human too!! :OOOOOOOOO So just CONSIDER the POSSIBILITY that you're just a TEEEEENY-winsie on the defensive side before bashing teh mods, okies? ...I dunno. Maybe you should also try reading this week's TOPIC LINE . [hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink].

Well I agree with you there, Cyber. There are a lot of good mods on the site, and equally there are bad mods. I've seen it often enough on other sites (and shamefully enough I've done it once myself though I have learned from my mistakes), that some moderators go on power trips - thinking that they are above the law, which can put people into very real jeopardy. On this site, in particular, with children, we gotta be more careful. Kids look to those in power for leadership, security, and to learn to be good people. For a website like Balto Source, we also need to take into account legal issues - being copyright, and mods must be aware of legal issues or the entire site could be shut down by an organized legal team. As far as I am aware, Steet does not have a legal team at his disposal. Unlike Myspace - which Balto Source is in danger of becoming a clone - this site has no defense. If a child on this site meets someone on this site who is say a forty-year old pedophile and is assaulted in any from - the parents of that child would be keen on suing Steet and the webspace provider the and shutting this site down. Now I'm pretty sure that there is no one here who wants to see that happen. Yes, we all have our own lives to deal with, but when you are in a position of power, you must take the additional responsibilities that keep this massive site running whenever you can. If you cannot handle the burden of the responsibilities, you should not be in a position of power. (Please please please please don't flame me... I'm just telling it as how I see it and what I have experienced here and other massive websites as well as from the real world.) Suka - I dun think you need to get defensive. Yes, you are a goofball, but goofing off also keeps the morale high with laughter. You also get serious when you need to be. In a nutshell, you're one of the good mods, and you've got my respect.

While Gold Kitty may have been out of line, there is a point to her words. The thing is, there are bad mods in this community and there are good mods.
Often the case is that the bad mods do something and the good mods get blamed for it.
(Under that reasoning bad mods are those who use their ability for their own gain, power trip, or do nothing. The good mods are those who do their jobs. EVERY online community has this problem.)
Yes, that is a problem. It's generalizing the facts. It is also the way the world works. For instance, if several 'jocks' are in the 'stupid' class of a high school, it wouldn't be unheard of for all the 'jocks' to be referred to as 'stupid' by any individual in the high school hallway - despite that there are several of these 'jocks' are in the 'genius' class. There is similar logic applied in race, religious, and noob/newbie cases - often not to the benefit to anyone.
However, this 'blaming the mods' stuff as we often see on the rant board would be a non-issue if the bad mods were good mods.
From what I have seen, there are those mods who have been 'ban' happy in the past (and no, I am not speaking of the case yesterday with the guy spamming the box, as I do agree with the banning on that point), and speaking out against them would be figurative Balto Source suicide. Not to mention, that could start a flame war.
So please, I ask everyone to read my first post on this topic and think maturely about what I have said.
And finally:
There is no reason to be defensive or offensive, unless you have done wrong. And this goes for general members and moderators alike.
