I love this man's work! Escecially three, two short stories(The Tell-Tale Heart and The Raven), and one of his poems so far(Annabelle Lee).

Anyone have any stories/poems of his they like? And why do you like to read Mr.Poe's work?

I enjoy it, just because it excites me, it's one of the things that really gets me pumped, and yet fill me with tremendous terror! But I also love 19th century literature and poetry.

When I was a teenager I memorized The Raven and recited it in a low creepy voice when my little brother was trying to go to sleep. I still have marks from the pillows he clobbered me with. Not really. lol. But I did memorize it, although by now I'm not sure I remember the whole thing.

Oh my God, that's a little cruel, lol. I memorized it(or at least tried to XD) for ELA class when I was in 6th grade. I got through it, and my teacher for that class has like, made me her fave student sicne then XD and I'm in 7th.

I got a whole book on some of his selected works for Christmas. The Pendulum and the Black Cat are by farhis best short stories. There was also one whose title eludes me where this man's wife is dying, and he develops a strange obsession for her teeth, then after she dies, he unburies her to wrench them all out. That one was pretty good. Message in a Bottle was one I totally didn't get, though. XD

As the man also once stated, "Perversity is merely the human thirst for self-torture."

Good to see I'm not the only one who likes his works. But why do you both like it? It's just probably an insane thrill of horror without having to witness it.

Actually The Raven and Annabelle Lee are his only works that I really like. I'm not a horror fan, generally speaking.

I always thought Annabelle Lee was so sad. It's great, it can just be really great for someone who's a bit down.

The Raven was good. I liked it. But I also kinda like The Fall of The House Of Usher.

That's awesome.
I once had it memorized, too, thanks in part to a "Simpsons" Halloween episode. *thinks* Do I still know the entire thing? Not a chance, probably. "Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary..."

Yes, I am a fan of Poe. I own a thick book of his short stories and whatnot.
