The term "lol" is thrown about like a casual flick of the hair these days. Example:
"hey"
"hey sup"
"ceiling"
"lol"

...and that was not even funny. Lol to me stands for "Lack of Laughs". Our wonderful lol smiley, however, has redeemed it.

I did once at college, one of the boys was trying to be funny and failing miserably and he told a lame joke and I look ed at him and said "Yeah...lol and all that*.
