There are LOTS of first-person shooters now, but there are only a few that everyone loves till the day they die. But what is your favorite shooter?
--- Personally my favorite is Halo 3, only because of the new Forge setting. =P ---

Most of my favorite FPS games come from the days of the N64.
Goldeneye 007 (Kinda of the godfather of modern FPS along with Doom.)
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (The N64 one. The rest of the series including Seeds of Evil is fun as well.)
Perfect Dark 64 (Excellent game, the new 360 one does not do it justice in my opinion.)

Hell yeah, Wolfenstein 3D was the grandfather, then Doom became the father of modern fps, 007 gave it a revolutionary spin, and perfect dark added spice into it. I had to choose Rainbow six Vegas out of those. Most of the other shooters are just mainstream ones, more of the same. I am not even that impressed about Rainbow six vegas either.. i would prefer the older version of it. Rainbow six: Rogue spear, that was pure tactical pwnage. And... i can't believe you didn't include S.T.A.L.K.E.R shadow of Chernobyl, high crime!

Half Life 2 is up there for me (switched my balto bf2 mod switched to HL2 source engine http://www.moddb.com/mods/pearce-pachuta) I'm afraid COD4 wins. Only downside is that everyone who plays online camps in a corner with a P90 (at least with xbox)

hahaha this is such my type of topic. Out of the choices there Call of Duty 4 (modern warfare), but to be honest I like Call of Duty 5 better(world at war).
