If we were given enough time to,we probably would've responded to the topic, but most people tend to busy themselves with other important things in their lives.

XD I'd already replied to it on Balto's True Story, I didn't see much point in repeating myself.

Okay...P.O.ed here. On the 27th of January, I posted an article on Balto Source (in the Balto 1 section, "conception" sub-section), and also in the True Story board on this forum, which had the intention of drawing everyone's attention to this year's anniversary of the original 1925 Nome Serum Run.

Of the supposed 4,000+ members of this site (and the probably 500 or so whom are active), a grand total of FOUR people took any notice, and said anything. FOUR people - Rain(ThunderStorm), Dragon Tamer, Music_Wolf, and THE BEAST. Just those thoughtful four people. Where were the rest of you? Why didn't you care?

It's not about me. I couldn't give a ***** whether or not anyone pats me on the back for posting those items. It was about honoring the dogs, men and women who gave so much of their time (and, in some cases, their lives)...as well as the 28 confirmed cases of diphtheria from Nome (some of whom also died). About celebrating the anniversary. Being humble and respectful to what the first Balto cartoon you all praise so highly IS ABOUT (more or less).

Did any of you notice and simply not post? Do you care? Do you even know that the Balto cartoon is BASED on a true story? Does it matter to you what happened? Or is being a fan of the cartoon just another excuse to launch an amateur side-job in drawing wolves with physiologically-impossible physical attributes and markings? And role-playing "GRR! GRR! VIOLENCE! BLOD-SHED! INCEST!! GRRRRRR! I'M A DEMON WOLF-LION THING!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!"

I realize that the True Story board hardly ever gets read. That most of you don't seem to care about that. That this site is mostly about the Balto cartoons (and Lion King cartoons, where the forum is concerned). And on this site, it's half-finished role-plays, games, and discussion about often inane things which draw all of the attention. And then the Balto Source shoutbox.

But this last week was the anniversary of an event which brought about the very inspiration for this site in the first place. An event which had historical consequences for not just the people of Nome, Alaska. And no one here seems to give so much as a tinker's cuss. And that's really sad. So many of you Balto fans carry on so much about how you love the first movie, and Balto himself. Some of you even talk about how you love the REAL Balto (and even Togo). If you ask me, you didn't show it much this week. You probably didn't even realize it. And even when it's laid right out in front of you, you just ignored it...because it wasn't about a video game, a role-play, incest, alternative lifestyles, anime cartoons, emo issues, or fan art.

Well, as an afterthought, here's what all of you missed:

Forum topic: http://baltosource.timduru.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=19295

Balto Source article: http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1articles/The_Anniversary_of_the_Serum_Run/1251.html

Well, you have to keep in mind that there are, approximately, ten boards on this forum pertaining to Balto. Only one of which pertains directly to the true story. So therein lies a reason why your topic didn't get much attention. It seems like, though I can't confirm this, people mainly come on here to discuss the cartoon version of Balto. The forum layout doesn't help matters either, though. The divisions of groups of forums are much too large, and only the most recent post appears for a section that might have 5+ other boards in it.

Really? A 10K post count makes me think otherwise. That goes for many of you here that have large post counts; you have the time. Don't waste mine and others' time with that excuse. Not that you have to post in the said topic above, but that excuse doesn't hold much credibility for those of you with high post counts over a small to medium period of time, medium being roughly a few years.

... Anyways. I see where your irritation is coming from, Sep. The only thing I can suggest is praise those whom posted on that topic, and see if they can help spread the word of the true story. Four is a start.

I'm sorry I haven't posted there, JC. But like you, my interest is more in the true story. But I gotta agree with you. Off the record, it seems that more are interested in the fairy-tale aspect of the film - if the interest was less in the fictional world and more in the real concrete history, we wouldn't see so much drama in regards to Balto's offspring as we do.

If I would've known about it, I probably would've read it. But I didn't. I stopped looking that area because it is like "deadsville", seriously. But even so, you shouldn't get so worked up over something like that. It's not the end of the world, trust me.

I stopped checking on the site actively a long time ago, including articles. I noticed that thread, although didn't really have much to contribute, unfortunately.
