After I watched the first movie I thought, "Wow. They're really great together!" as most of us have. But were you surprised when Balto and Jenna became parents?

In short, I don't think Balto and Jenna should have become parents. They changed the characters in the second to make Jenna seem more motherly, which I didn't think she was in the first. (unless we talk about her and Rosie.)

Your thoughts on this?

I don't mind them being parents and having children, but in the sequels it's just done in a clichéd way. For example, Balto is transformed into the typical overprotective father who's lost all of his spark, and Jenna is turned into the concerned mother who has little to do with the actual story. You know that you're watching a made-for-video sequel when you hear Jodi Benson destroying a strong female character and pushing them into the background.

I didn't really mind. It didn't happen in real, but they adleast had something to make a sequel about. Even if it was terrible :/ Seriously though, looking at the puppies, all of them (except Alue) might as well have been Jenna/Steele's pups. With all random markings and blue eyes popping up. But it's fine with me in my oppinion. Otherwise were would all these puppy clones be coming from? XD Alleast it inspired people to make some REAL Balto fan characters.

Well yeah, I'm glad they made a sequel too but I still don't see them as parents. I always pictured them as being young and alive but I think they totally destroyed their characters when they made them parents in number two.

Exactafreakingly right. Balto's just an old hat now, and Jenna the typical concerned mother who sits back and worries. Balto was more determined in B1 and Jenna would have gone after him in WoC if they were staying true to the original characters, but they had to redeem Kodi. Big wahoo. They destroyed all of the original characters. Boris wouldn't have been so chicken about Stella either, remember his advice to Balto in B1 to make a move on Jenna? But no, "he's afraid of heights". Weak.

I love the idea of Balto and Jenna being parents.

Yes, its a lame excuse for him to not do anything. I mean not only did he fly in the first movie, all of his problems could've been avoided. Any adult could realize that. How're kids supposed to take adults seriously when people put them through Brady Bunch problems like lying about a silly fear? And about Jenna going after him, tho she did in the first movie, her chasing after him would become a repetitive thing  Not bad, but not good either. I mean if I was Jenna always chasing after Balto I'd be like "You know what? Lets just leave Nome, this is getting ridiculous." Still unforgivable for the out-of-characterness.

I don't mind that Balto and Jenna became parents (after all, if they're a male/female couple why wouldn't they have kids?), but honestly I think they're personalities were completly damaged. I mean, Balto could be overprotective, but Jenna would still be a brave female character instead of a mother that sits around and worries like a bird in a nest with a fox trying to eat her eggs.

Thats why I think someone should retcon the sequels and make another one, with more adventure and a decent villain.

I think Universal made them parents so they could cash in like the Disney sequels.. why is it when the movies focused on the kids.. they ruin the parents character? .. like what happened to Simba,Ariel,Tramp,Esmerelda,Wendy,Pongo and Perdy,Wilbur(though he's more of a foster father to Charlotte's children) and Mrs Brisby.. they were either overstrict parents or got minimal roles.. I shudder what might happen in the next Shrek sequel when it's about on of Shrek's kids  :@:

Lets hope that doesn't happen. A Shrek 4 would be wayyy too much. I love him and all but that would be too much.

Really? Wow! That sucks. Its like Disney squeezing out as much fame as possible for Hannah Montana and High School Musical.
