Personally, I think adult themes can be shown in fan fics and art as long as things don't get too sexualized. I'm not christian, and I tolerate certain things that someone else would think its blasphemous, but I do agree that people must be more carefull. Only because there's fan fics that contain things like adultery or homosexuality (the first I don't like, the second I tolerate) doesn't mean everyone can go around and say mean or sexual related things

Well, we need to avoid talking about the sexual preference issues. That's not allowed here. It's forbidden speech. However, you must realize that there are more than just Christians here. There are Muslims, Jews, Hindus. Probably Wiccans too. And there are probably plenty of athiests and agnostics who also have a certain moral code or upbringing which precludes such...material. And there are parents who scan this forum and the sites. All of those people have a right to be offended by what they see there. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with them being religious. Why is that ALWAYS the first thing people think when someone has the courage to complain about such things on a forum like this...where the greater vocal majority seem to have sway (and oppose such complaints with often ridiculous justifications and politically-correct deflections)? I'm not snapping at you - I'm just remarkably frustrated with that viewpoint.
And for anyone to have the unmitigated gall to say to them "you know what? You don't HAVE to read it/look at it. You don't like it? Don't read it/look at it. And while you're at it, grow up and get with the times. What's wrong with ... [censored by me]?" is just pathetic. It's NO different than "out of control teens" on Jerry Springer telling their harried mothers "
Whatevah! Whatevah! I'll do what I
WANT! [Expletive expletive expletive...obscene gesture...bad attitude]" And why
is that, you ask? Because, quite obviously, if a site is CALLED "kid-friendly" or "family-friendly", and marketed that way, then anyone who is posting that kind of material, the offensive stuff, is simply riding the political correctness wave to its maximum effect (or, in the case of gore and violence in fan fics and art, they're simply riding the wave of unhealthy fascination the teen and college-aged crowd has for that kind of base materila), in order to buck the system, and shield the actual motive by claiming "freedom of speech", "artistic freedom/license", etc. And in my opinion, that's pretty piss-poor.

The real shame of it is that I sense a lock coming. Anytime this is talked about, it is hushed up nice and fast. And one must walk SUCH a fine line on this site if one presumes to question the allowances made for those wishing to post material which others find offensive...or which violates the kid-friendly/family-friendly concept and tag.
