Dressage Rider wrote: hello, im kinda new to this forum, and i would just like to get familiar with the horse lovers here, since this a "dog" oriented site (i mean no disrespect to anyone). but does anyone practice dressage or classical riding? i have been riding for only half a year and I am learning some of the basics in dressage. i would just like to know if there are any others out there..
second, does anyone do show jumping or any form of jumping?? have some questions about that...
finally....Kentucky rolex anyone??? lol anyone familiar with that? Yep! Does dressage events and show jumping but at a limite with show jumping now. I use a chestnut Quarter Horse named Disa for Dressage, fully trainned and high stander skilled horse at it too, got many 2nds and some 1st within pony club and other events. Been riding, properly, for 4 years now. Starting on a young exmoor pony for basic trecking and cross country. I had 5 but now down to 4, sadly i lost a bay T.B cross Irish last year to heart failer, only 2 i own myself the other 2 are on share with one of me best friends. But that 2 i own are a bay exmoor named Krizma and a Chestnut Quarter Horse named Disa. I only names Krizma as i had him as a colt. The 2 that i have on share is a gray Arab names Dazzle and a Dapple gray TB by the name Rem(which hates me xD) Kentucky rolex i have never really interested in so dont ask about that xD

I don't do Dressage or Show jumping but I do enjoy horse riding, not been able to for a while because it's quite expensive.
My mum used to do Dressage, she was pretty dang good too! She used to go to shows and stuff, she used to breed horses.
One of the things I'd LOVE to do would be to ride a Friesian across Canada, don't care where in Canada, just somewhere wild!

to ShadowWolfAJ - OMG!! quarter horses are fabulous dressage and show horses. Their 5 gaits (or 6, i dont remember, but you know) look beautiful, the "rack". You are incredibly lucky, i envy you..lol..jkjkjk...I ride a 16 year old thoroughbred with some dutch warm blood in him. His name is Captain (bay colored), and he's a very trustworthy horse. I've felt some of that thoroughbred engine in him when i was excessively using the riding crop (yeah, it was a bad day) and then he just bolted. He is a great jumper though, and in dressage...well, you kinda have to force him to do a lot the moves (he wont do half passes with ease anymore). I've been a few dressage comps (cant say ive done well) but i love being a part of it, and i think ive done well, since ive been riding for only half a year. Good to hear that you like dressage too.
Sorry, i really enjoy watching the "rolex" i look forward to watching them this year..

Errrr...we don't have that style around where I live. We ride saddle seat style on gaited horses. http://www.kywha.comThe huge shoes on some of the horses shown in pictures don't hurt the horse. They just showcase the strength of the Walking Horse.

I use to horse back ride, but I broke my wrist, and almost got killed so I quit D: I occasionally ride with my friend at her Aunt's Ranch and with hold a two person Dressage contest with her Cousin as a judge xD Her Aunt owns a Quarter Horse named "Fin"(For 'Finally' xD), and a pony named "Ally"(Together they make "FinAlly" xD). We sometimes jump the Quarter Horse. We don't really ride the pony xD

I have been riding on and off for the past 3 and half years. During this time I have done some dressage, and I will admit that I was not very good at it for the first time. Of course this was at a summer day camp for riding so we only had a couple of days to practice the course. Though before I wasn't doing lessons and just did the summer camp for a week for two summers. Now, I ride every Wednesday at a great place called Windy Ridge Ranch with a great instructor. I have fallen of my horse while riding bareback because I wasn't really that good at cantering so I just slipped right off and landed on my back. I wasn't hurt, thank goodness, and I was laughing as well, and told everyone that I was just fine. My plan is to start showing sometime this year and once I am older I would like to buy myself a Arabian and go to the top and compete at really high levels. I really do enjoy this sport and it's a great way to make new friends at stables that are horse crazy as you are lol. As well to actually riding I love to learn about horses and watch horseshows on TV.

I'm quite fond of horses, but I don't know much about them. My dear mother is scared of them. Bad childhood experiences. Luckily, my camp and favourite resort have horseback!
