Since i got you to open this maybe you will take the time and read this. This is an excerpt from my new story which is currently under construction. Plz read and review it.

Dakota pressed one side of the bone down into the sand with one paw and chewed at the last piece of meat and fat at the other end. But his jaw’s weren’t well shaped for the bone and he had to turn his head and get at it from another angle. This didn’t work either and he pulled back to study the bone for a minute. He then put the end of the bone in his mouth and let it slide to the back of his jaw so he could munch on it like a man with a cigar stuffed in his cheek. But this didn’t work either and he dropped the bone in the sand with a sad look on his face. “You just can’t get that last piece, that’s it.”
Balto and Kodi lay in the beach sand opposite from Dakota quietly munching on their bones with meat scraps left. Balto lifted his head from his piece. “The only way to get it is to break the end of the bone.”
Dakota looked at the bone again. “But that will hurt my teeth.”
Balto, back to chewing on his piece, shrugged his shoulders.
Dakota pushed the bone away with a long uncaring sweep of his paw. “So Kodi, why did you look so down back there before I invited you along on this little journey?”
Kodi let his bone drop from his mouth to his paws as he looked at Dakota. “I just can’t sleep. I’m so worried about Dusty, about the puppies. Then Mr. Simpson has me running a sled on the dirt around town delivering mail house to house. I’m just exhausted and I need a break. This did help and I want to thank you for inviting me along. Now all I need is a long nap.” Kodi smiled and yawned.
Dakota smiled. “Oh no problem Kodi, but tell me, what’s it like to know that you’re about to become a father? Are you scared that your kids will be like us when we were young?”
Kodi, done with his bone also, except for a few pieces he couldn’t get at, pushed it away and licked at his chops as he set his head down on his paws and closed his eyes. “I’m not too scared to be a dad. I mean, we weren’t that bad, were we dad?”
Balto, still stubbornly chewing on the last piece at the very tip of the bone stopped chewing and rolled his eyes. “No, no trouble at all.” Balto said in the most sarcastic tone ever.
Dakota chuckled lightly at his father, then locked his eyes on Kodi as he opened his eyes. “If that’s any sign of what’s to come.”
Kodi looked at his father and brother with a deep questioning look. “We weren’t that bad when we were young, I mean we had some troubles, but we weren’t, well, horrible to you and mom, were we?”
Balto couldn’t help but let a good laugh escape him. He let the bone drop off his paws into the sand and he looked straight into Kodi’s eyes, still chuckling at how ignorant his son was. “Do you remember the first time you got in trouble?” Balto asked with a sly look like a drunk sliding a question across a bar.
Kodi, who couldn’t really remember much about his puppy hood, shook his head in a dejected no.
“Well,” Balto began again. “I remember when you convinced Aleu to a race around the block without telling your mother or me.”
A dim memory began to fade back to life somewhere in Kodi as he thought back.
“So you and her take off around the block, not really knowing where you’re going. After a while you got tired and didn’t want to race anymore, but you let Aleu keep going around the block. Only she got lost and couldn’t remember how to get back. When your mother and I asked you where she was, you said you didn’t know. Then I go looking all around town, and when I find her she has a completely different story to tell.” Balto smiled again as he watched Kodi’s face light up with the memory of what had happened. “So you weren’t always so good and well behaved as you thought, were you Kodi?”
Kodi looked at his father and sat back up. “But that was only one time. I said it before; everyone has some bad streaks of ideas. And puppies don’t know what’s right and wrong until they’re told about it. We couldn’t have been horrible all the time.”
This time Dakota began to laugh and role his eyes at Kodi. “I can think of several hundred times that we weren’t exactly well behaved. There was the time you and me got into the kibble and shook all the fur out we could. Then when everyone got fed they had our fur in the food. Also there was that time when we tore apart mother’s bed while she was away and we were being watched by Boris. We made everyone sleep on the floor for the rest of our days with mom. That happened when you and me got too big for the bed and we had to sleep on the floor. We wanted everyone else to sleep on the floor with us so we wouldn’t be alone. I mean, we really were just plain horrible to mom, dad, and anyone who got in our way.”
Balto rolled his eyes at his two troublemaking son’s, then went back to work chewing on the bone. He almost had the last piece of meat. Balto began to twist the bone into different direction. He tried both sides of his jaw, and put the bone into his mouth in every conceivable way. Finally he found a good lock on the bone, and he bit down as hard as his jaws could. Tears began to roll out of his tightly clenched eyes when -
SNAP!!! The bone cracked into a dozen different pieces in Balto’s mouth. Balto spit out several of the long razor-like shards, but kept chewing on a couple of them with a content look.
Kodi and Dakota both looked at their father, shocked that he had actually broke the bone. Then they looked at their own bones and contemplated snapping it to get at the last piece themselves.
Suddenly Jenna came running down between two buildings to the beach. She paused momentarily where she came out into the sun, and looked both ways down the beach. She sighted Kodi, Balto, and Dakota lying about and ran quickly towards them, kicking up sand as she ran full speed.
“Kodi!” Jenna yelled as she came up to the three of them.
Kodi, sensing the distress in his mother’s voice came instantly to his feet. “What is it mom? Where’s Dusty?” He looked back up the beach where she had come from, but he only saw he tracks. “What happened?” Kodi asked, shaken by his mother’s sudden appearance and shaking voice.
Jenna breathed in and out with a loud rasp coming from deep in her throat. She managed to recompose her frazzled look with a shake of her head, and began to make sentences through her breathes. “Dusty…ju…just…went…into…la…labor.” She managed to flop out before she stopped, hung her head down, and did nothing but breath.
“Where is she?” Kodi demanded.
“She’s…in…the…bo…boiler…room.” Jenna replied with her head still held slack.
In an instant Kodi jumped past his mother and ran back across her tracks in a flurry of flying sand and lightning quick speed. He flashed up the bank between the two houses where his mother had come from and vanished from the group’s sight before they could even think about going after him. It didn’t take more than a few seconds for them to follow after Kodi.

Sounds promising. I wish I could get the main site to work on my computer. I'd read all your fanfics.

Thanks. I'm shirt on time at the moment, and thus regrettably unable to read your fanfics. But I will be glad to do so when an opportunity presents itself. I too have some stories on fanfiction.net. Would you like to see them?

Hey, hey! Not bad!
It's nice to see Kodi and Dingo portrayed as troublemakers; it takes away that cartoony innocence that doesn't always work in a story. Aaaand, it foreshadows what Kodi may have to deal with as a father.
Wonder how he'll take it...
Anyway, great job so far. I'll sure finish reading this one. Does it have a title yet, so I can keep a look out for it?

All these previews have gotten me thinking; maybe I'll put up a few of my own...

Write on!
