Back in October,I lost a very special friend to me.My english toy spaniel,Gabreil.
When we got her,she was in mats,dirty,sick,had worms,and was living in burrows.
This dog - 6 months old with no name.AT ALL.
The mother to her had just had another litter,three puppies,two weeks old,seperated form her in a kennel with hard food and water.
We had no choice.We took Gabriel,And we called the Police,Shelters,ASPCA,PCA,Anything we could think of.
When we took her home,she was scared.So very scared.She wouldnt even come to us.
That next morning,I woke up and she was laying beside me,Asleep.She knew we'd done something for her.
A year and 3 months later,she had puppies.Three.Max,Akiri,and Rafeal.I still have Akiri.
> She died october 28th,unexpectedly,of Mammary (breast) cancer.Yes,Dogs do get this.No; You cant do much for it.It was in her,and it attacked her.
I wanted to write something about her...So,Yeah.

You look at me,sittign in daddy's chair.Your brown eyes say, ' Hey,Why am I here?'I smile,shake my head,and try to pat you.You shy away,and I figure,'She's not ready yet.'

A year later,We're best friends.Insepperable.You look at me,and I look at you,and we cuddle on the couch.

Those brown eyes,so full of hurt in the car,
I stare,with tears in my eyes.
thirty minutes later,We're at the vet.He's yelling at us aobut how this couldnt've happened overnight.But it did.I hear a low growl from you,and suddenly he stops.He says you have to stay.
Those brown eyes,slittery and full,back to when you were little,say
'I cant stay.Thank you,You've helped me so much.Im so sorry,But they say I have to go.
I love you.I was so afraid,they didnt care for me well.You taught me how to be myself,how to love,how to care.To eb a mother,to feel pain,and most of all,You loved me.I wont see you again,But Ill wait for you.Please dont cry,I know you love me too.'And she looked at Akiri,wo was in my mother's arms,and I could tell she was crying.Hrer eyes were spilling over.Who ever said dogs cant cry was wrong.As I was forced to leave,I prayed for him to let you come home.You looked at me,and you brown eyes said, ' No.It's my time.It's ok.He'll take good care of me.Ill watch over you,just like you watched over me.It's my turn to protect.'
Now you lay,between two trees,in a wild feild,where deer play,with wildflowers,and a creek not far away.

She taught me to trust again.

i liked ur poem i think ur dog would too. Its hard loosing a pet i've had 2 burry 4 in my life time and with my fams help we even saved a few from death. Always good 2 remember the time ya speand with them it seems long while their with u and short when their gone. our kitty patch past on just last year actully his aninversry is coming up he was 17 and unlike u, he left us with no heirs (well none that we have ourselves anyway)

I feel sorry for you and her. My Grandma's dog died from breast cancer too! I have lost pets so I know how this feels.

Update - Akiri (Gabby's daughter) Gave us quite the scare last night (on X-mas eve!) She was staggering around, listless, unreponding, and falling asleep where she stood, not wagging her tail or playing - Which is really unusual for her - And began puking, then shaking, then panting - hot-then-cold - then puking - The same thing Gabby did only hours before she was taken to the vet- And then happened suddenly - as Akiri was okay before this - But - She's fine now. She was just sick, we supposed, exhausted, maybe. We'd been out all day with her - And you know, Holiday stress.

ohh my.
that is quite horrible, but at least she spent the best years of her life with you, and was happy.

The first pet of my own was a cat I got when I was 10. But when I got him, on my Birthday, I woke up sick. So I couldn't play with him, no matter how much I wanted to. His name was Donnie. He was my best friend and I got him when he was 10 weeks old. He was a perfect black cat with a white chin, chest, paws and three white hairs between his eyes.

When he was a teen, we put him outside for the night, like we normally do... But that night I had a nightmare that a bear got him.

That morning, I fixed his food and walked out side, calling his name... Be he never came back.

We live on a farm next to the woods, so we think he was eaten. Just like all the other cats.


And on September 12th, 2008, my horse Navy fell very ill. I was once again sick, so I didn't get see her. By night, she was doing fine. But on September 13th, mid day, she was sick again. We had to put her to sleep that day and she was only a few months old. I didn't get ot see her last few days living.


I've also had to say goodbye to our dog, Luke. Luke was a genius, happy dog and he was the sweetest, and very protective of us... But we found a pregnant dog walking on the road, alone. So we took her home. A few days later, we could here Luke barking in the night. That morning, my sister came up to me saying,
"We need to barry Luke." And I froze. He was the nicest dog ever.

The pregnant dog who we named Loosey, was mentally (sp?) retarded. Seriously. We were surpirsed she could actually give brith. We gave her and 5 of her pups away and kept one. They were all girls. But due to her retardedness, all the puppies were too, and also very violent. We had to muzzle the pup, Emma, and that took 2 hours to do, and we ended up bleeding everytime!


I'd make it longer with my other stories, but I know this is your topic and its our time to morn.


I'm sorry about Gabby and I know what you're going through. She sounds nice... Oh. And just if you believe in this kind of thing... Look out for any signs of her being around. I know Luke, Donnie and Navy are, because I can feel them still.

I know she's still around. I've seen her, bows and all.
