I dunno about you guys...but this whole Hollywood trend of personifying all sorts of books into movies really isn't working out...
-Missed Call
-The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
-I Am Legend
- White Noise
-Prince Caspain
-The Spiderwick Chronicles
-Beowulf
-The Mist
-The Golden Compass
-P.S. I Love You
...Most of which came out only recently, and I must say that my interest for a particular movie can greatly fall fatally short by the presentation of 5 short words: BASED. ON. THE. NOVEL. BY. In my honest opinion, it's like a slap in the face to the author. Stealing an idea, if you will. "Oh, we're going to use YOUR story and YOUR ideas to make MY movie." Sure, there's the occasional royalty checks in the mail, but really. The author literally did ALL the work in coming up with a fantastic story, and I'm sure most of you can vouch for me when I say movies made from books are never really good anyways. And what does this phenomenal author get in return? Out of an hour-and-a-half long film... a two second mention at the end credits. That's it. You're done.
In typing this, I'm only beginning to realize how much it ticks me off to see this happen. People need ideas, but naturally, they're too lazy to get something totally out there. Of course...the writers are all on strike, so what do they do instead? They get amateurs to pretty much reconstruct the great stories of their predecessors. I would be DEEPLY offended by that happening to me. Think of how you'd feel if someone told you one of your fics was going to be made into a movie. Naturally, at first, you think, "Oh, I'm good. Go me!!" But when it turns out that the movie stunk to high heaven, and people start slandering YOUR story for a sneazy movie-make of it...how would you feel?

Alright, let's get off the book-movie subject, and just talk movie for a change. The last mistake I made was actually spending money to go see AVP 2. So believe me when I say I'd be throwing popcorn if I ever saw the same thing twice...the sad truth is, I'd be needing A LOT more popcorn. Allow me to elaborate:
You've all heard of a new thriller called "
Missed Call," right? You get a call on your phone, answer it to hear yourself screaming in agony, and shortly thereafter, you die. Of course...it's not like this is the first movie of its kind. The movie's actually a remake of a Japanese horror flick by the name of "
Chakushin Ari," whose movie was apparently made sometime in 2003. I must admit that the "I see dead people" movies used to scare me a lot. And now, there's another by the name of "
The Eye," (Starring Jessica Alba, I might add...yum.), which I feel is now a rip off of "
PULSE," and "
White Noise."
In conclusion, my lovelies, I really am growing tired of seeing no variety. Sure, no two stories are exactly alike. But they're the same nonetheless. Moreover, seeing the movie will make you less prone to read the book. It's a crime I tell you. A literary crime!!
