I think it's a question of what you do with your life, not where you do it. But that said, I should be very happy to have a chance to see that place for myself at some point in my lifetime. That's a good sentiment, and some good wisdom. Well done! Er...it might be worth noting here, for anyone interested in seeing Nome, that almost all of the structures seen in these historic photographs are no longer there. Nome has suffered from decades of exposure to the might of the Bering Sea, and the powerful storms which roll off of it. And it also suffered two large fires. It looks much different now than it did then (well, the town anyway...not the surrounding countryside and the beach). There are only a few remnants of that era still present...some remain in use, others are abandoned. Of course, that in itself provides a certain fascination for the explorer in me! Thanks. I got it from a brother who had 3 ships sink out from under him in the course of his lifetime, and once had rocks thrown at him by everyone in town until even he wasn't sure if he was alive or dead. and believe me, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Yet through all that, he learned the secret of being content in any and every circumstance.
