I have been noticing more fics about random wolves or dogs than balto related fics. I think everyone is a good author here but PLEASE try to put only balto related fics on here, i mean comon!!!!!! Who agrees?

We need to have some flavor when it comes to reading, all Balto gets boring after a while...

Depending on which one of the websites you go to, there's either: Wolf- or Balto related, or Lion- or TLK Related.

Steet allows both types, and I must say, being a fanfic mod, that I come over a good story that's not Balto-related every now and then. I enjoy reading them <3

It depends...if someone's fics are entirely based around their own characters, characters which have nothing to do with the Balto movies, then I don't think they should post them here as much but if they post fics based on their own characters but those characters have something to do with the Balto movies then I don't see anything wrong with it.

I agree. Personally, I'm more tired of the 'drive by fanfics' (the ones that are horribly written and mutilate the English language), but I would rather see more (well written!) Balto related fanfiction. After all, this is a site for Balto, not wolves in general. Characters that fill in a slot in the Balto universe (like Aniu's sister, or something like that) are fine. At least it has to do with Balto in one form or another.

We should be able to use our own characters in our own fan fics, with Balto in it or not. Its still dog/wolf related, so does it really matter? We should have a right to choose on using our characters for fan fics, or just Balto characters, so I voted "No".

OK, well fan fiction is fiction, so it can be anything. Personally, i think people should have at least one poem or story featuring a TLK character..or about a TLK character. I love writing fics about my own charrie.

Well, I personally don't care if there's non-Balto related fics up. I mean, for a writer, it's so much harder to keep a character that is made for a particular movie or whatever completely in character. This is coming from someone who has tried writing fics to keep the canon characters true to themselves, and it is extremely difficult. In contrast, it's so much easier to develop an original character than attempt to write for a canon one. I've read plenty of fics that throw the character's canon personality out the window and well, that ruins the fic entirely in my opinion.

In other words, what I care about is if it's well-written or not, good grammar, a good plot, good plot development, and truth to the characters. There are good fics and bad fics in every fandom, and if it's well-written and not totally Balto-related, it should be alright.

Does this mean I'm safe? Cuz all of my fics are about my fan characters and they're related to Balto some way or another. I think the furthest fic I've written about is my character Faolan, who is a member of a wolf pack, who happens to be the same wolf pack as Kiona, who is Balto's daughter. Or Cobalt, who is the son of Steele, and uncle of Stunner, who is the granddaughter of Balto. I feel like I'm playing the Kevin Bacon game, which in a way works since...yeah, you get it. That'd make a fun game. Okay, I'm done having ADD. But like my opinion on other fics, as long as they're written good, It doesn't matter what they're about Besides, if we just stuck to Balto fanfics, then steet couldn't attract anyone but Balto fanfic authors And thats bayyyy-ad

I like Balto and all, but am not really into reading the fanfics that much. I'll read them if the plot is interesting enough though. I think the only really related fanfiction I have to Balto is 'Friend in You' since it has Star in it XD The ones about Achak are more original character stuff. The Brown Hill Spirits is/will be related to it as it progresses though =P
