MOVIE--REAL Steele--Togo
Togo was Purbred, to my knowledge...(and i know Balto was Lol) Then Balto took over, as in the real journey. Steele's musher got injured, so did the musher when togo was leading.... Actually, Togo was not a purebred. Either way, I really don't think Steele is supposed to be Togo. Steele is just some added in character to the movie. lolz

Dragon Tamer, you are a member of my forum ( The History of the 1925 Nome Serum Run forum, which is connected with Balto's True Story). You should have been able to answer that question, assuming of course that you've been reading the many posts in the forum, as is expected of all members there. Given that, your knowledge of Togo wouldn't be "rather limited". I cite Starsky_balto and even Banshee Kid as examples (Banshee was a member, and Starsky is). I must confess I am somewhat poor at retaining information about history sometimes, so I cannot claim to have a working knowledge of everyhing on your forum. My apologies.

To add on to what JC said, Togo is one of the few founding studs of the Siberian Husky breed in the United States. Most Sibes, especially those who are called Seppala Siberians, trace their ancestry to the Seppala dogs, which includes Togo. It does, however, exclude Balto, considering Seppala's thoughts of Balto were not exactly positive - as Balto was not the greatest lead dog, and thus he was neutered.
And another thing.
Not all black and white blue-eyed Sibes are bad and not all red-and-white Sibes are gentle with everyone.

There is nothing in the Balto movie documentary, nor in any other material, which supports that assumption. Nor is the Steele character anything at all like the very real Togo was. The only similarity (which offers no connection between the two) is that they were both sled dogs, and both led racing teams as well. That's it. Similarly, Banshee is right...sort of. Togo's FATHER, a dog named Suggen (and a team leader like Togo was), was part Siberian husky, and part Alaskan Malamute. However, genetics being what they are, it is difficult to conclude just whether or not there were any Alaskan Malamute genes active in Togo. Probably they were dormant, as Togo was considered small even for a Siberian husky at the time, and he topped out at barely 50 pounds (this is a matter of historical record). Now...
