It was hard times when I met you.
At first I couldn’t see
the beauty in your eyes.
It was dark inside of me.

Then one day, I woke up.
I had a different view.
Things will always change.
Things are always new.

I set out to change my life.
My heart, it felt so bright.
I never had so much confidence.
I felt I could set things right.

But when you said to go away,
I didn’t know what to do.
My heart had torn in half.
But still, I thought of you.

That night, I took a walk.
I was glaring at the passing trees.
I howled a mournful song,
and you sang back at me.

I felt that it was you.
Then, I didn’t feel so numb.
Did you understand now?
Were my worries overcome?

I know that I was cruel to you,
and to the one that you hold dear.
I would have never done a thing
if it wasn’t for my fear.

I will truthfully admit it.
I was a monster from the start.
I wish I could take it back.
I mean it with all my heart.

So give me one more chance.
I know we can work this out.
It can be just you and me.
That’s what my life is all about.
