Have you ever noticed how people put random Fanart, or wolf pictures in their profile and say, "This is me!" Or, "This is me and ____", Or "These are my pups, ____, ____, __"?
Well I think most of us have.

With Fanart It's the same as art theft even IF you put the little "This doesn't belong to me". It's alright if it was a Gift, Or request, or drawing for you. :]


Now with Anime Pics: Please, you don't EVEN know the character's names! And most of the "anime" piccies you use are actually made by poplar Artists on dA, and often mistaken for true anime pics.

Now with REAL animal pictures.
Most have been used over 900 times for pity's sake! And it's still wrong!

I have to agree. It does still count as theft, but there's not much one can do about it. Profiles aren't easily moderated.

Well i agree i've seen that before but i forgot who it was.When i take art and put it on my profile i dont just put it there and say its mine if you dont know who it is just put this message:
Art(C)Respectful artists. its >THAT easy!.sure its not the name of the artist but its still giving credit to them! i hate it when people steal art!

Uh, I argree. I've noticed this for some time. It's not only stupid, it's art theft. All these newbie profiles are always full of "This is me" "This is my lovely mate, touch him and you'll die" And "Me and my sis" "Me as a fairie" "Me as a tiger" and all that stuff wwith picktures people found on Imageshack and Google, What about even, "Me as anime character from a movie I've never seen that I found on google"

Are you talking about people who just take random images off the internet, and post them in there profiles saying this is me? Or are you saying, that they draw them and say that thats them? Anyway i think it would be fine if it was related to balto or lion king, i dont see the harm in that, there just screen shots.

I can't say it's 100% theft because if they're found on Google then we don't really know if the person who drew/photographed the picture put it up for public use or not BUT those type of profiles are silly, a bit childish and a waste of space.

I agree that artists pics off DA are most likely used without the artists permission and therefore classed as theft.

Yeah, I gotta agree. It is theft and it is annoying. I've seen way too many pieces of SnowWolfMystic's and Huskie's art, for instance, on the profiles - and knew exactly what character was being ripped off. Female characters on male profile pages u.u;;

Besides animal artists, I have noticed anime/manga fan and original arts on people's profiles...

Then there's the photos. I'm fairly certain that most of them don't appreciate the use - I've seen Monty Sloan's website, and he isn't exactly enthused about people using his photos without permission.

Perhaps a really good artist member of the site, could make templates/linearts of the things we commonly see in profiles...?

People might use them, but it's just an idea. ^^

I agree with this, it is rather annoying UNLESS there are atleast copyrights under the picture. Other than that ii just takes up space.



Yes, it really is a good idea, I'm sure some people would use them, it'd be alot easier than chopping up/altering an original wolf picture found on google.
