I agree with some of your points on Wolf Quest - Aleu was basically a clone of Kiara, minus the charm.

Okay, don't shout on me but I don't really like this movie. It's overrated in my opinion. And why?
1) I don't like the animation so- It is not AWSOME in my opinion: I don't like the designs of Dixie-Her paws don't even look like paws.
her friend-She doesn't look like a dog to me(I don't remember her name),
Alue-Her neck looks like a neck of a giraff.
the evil character in Balto 2(I don't remember his name)-He doesn't look so "evil" to me-His design reminds me of the boys in my school who don't come to the studies and smoke.
Star-Hie eyes are the size of plates..It looks creepy to me.
The little poodel- He doesn't look like a poodel to me. The scene where he jumped of fear made him looks like a jelly fish
Steel-His paws don't look like paws as well.
2) The villians are not good in my opinion-No offense, but they made me laugh. The evil character in Balto 2 behaves like one who wants attenion  ..He punced on Alue and on Balto and he had no reason. They did nothing to him. And steelemade me laugh because he is not villian enough for me. He didn't kill anyone. He just had 3 stupid groopies.
3) Okay, the movie is based on a true story, but it could have been better in my opinion if they made this movie as a real and not as a cartoon.
4) Some characters really annoyed me:
Alue-she is a bad imitation of Kiara and her voice is so annoying.
Dixie-she is annoying and I can't say why, but i hate her as much as I hate Alue.
Star- He is a bad imitation of the hyenas in TLK. I just wanted to hit him like Kaltag.
5) In the first movie there have no songs and a good cartoon in my opinion must have songs.
Sorry Balto fans.

But this movie has good things: I like Stella nad her design and 2 songs from Balto 3: "You don't have to be a hero" and "come on up and fly"..the plots of the first and the 3 movies are nice.

I disagree. I didn't think WQ was really that good, but your going to start a problem for everyone who loves Balto and it's sequels. I know what your mad about though but in my opion this is stretching it farther than is necesary. Anyway I don't want to end up hating The Lion King.

I respect your opinion and while I do not think Balto can be considered overrated, you're free to like or dislike the movies. I do agree with you on certain things, too.

But there are a couple other certain things I really don't understand, like...
How do Dixie's and Steele's paws "not look like paws?" What else could they possibly look like?
Sylvie (Dixie's friend's name) looks different from the other dogs in the film, true, but she does look like a (cartoon) Afghan hound.
And then--I'm a little confused, what 'Poodle' are you talking about?
OK...so I don't think Dixie is annoying, I like Star, and I don't believe Aleu's neck is particularly giraffe-like, but those are just differences of opinion...

And as for declaring that all good cartoons *must* contain songs, and therefore any cartoon without songs cannot be good...I would never make such a generalization, as much as I do LOVE songs and musicals!

I'm not arguing--we just don't see eye to eye on a few things and I'm a little curious as to why you said some of them.

wow...thanks a bunch for sharing this with us all on Balto Source...no really its greatly appreciated, nothing like someone to come on and say how much they think the movie sucks and right on the Forums as well :)

However opinions are more than entitled but to make few counter points to yours, just so I can get a better idea of why you don't like the movie(s) then your comments stated.

Firstly I love the animation in Balto, who cares if it hasn't got rolling shadows or breathtaking CGI, in the first movie you can definetly see the time and care that went into drawing and bringing those great characters to life.

Second of all if the movie followed the real Balto story then it probably wouldn't have made for that great a movie, Balto waits at 2nd to last checkpoint... Balto recieves medicine...Balto runs to Nome... Yay they arrive with medicne, many children had died and many still will die. Not to say that the true story itself isn't great but for a movie mainly aimed at kids, something needed to be done and that meant changing it a lot but the idea and inspiration of the true story is still clearly seen in the movie.

Thirdly, Balto was released in 1995 and Lion King was released in 1994, so one year before Balto. So tell me how can Star be a rip off of the hyena's. Is it the similarity in laughter or appearence? Cause either one I don't think are evn closely alike but now that you've mentioned it I've tried to figure out how exaclty he's a rip off. So unless Amblition had people in the Lion King production office stealing idea's of hyena's who live in Africa, to use for there characters living in Alaska I don't see how it's possible, not only that but the then amazing feat of pulling their own movie together in a year after they have their oh so precious stolen Lion King idea's made it to them -_-

Fourth, stop nit- picking, whilst some things you may dislike I can't help but see them as really over the top searches justt for an excuse, Alue has a giraffe neck, Star has plate eyes, Niju attacking Balto for no reason (Ever been outside you house? It happens), a poodle looking like a jellyfish and... not liking the look of paws??? Come on? whats with that? They look like prefectly average paws to me, nothing stands out weirdly about them to me. Most of these "problems" that you have personally announced to give you reason to dislike the movie are...well, just weak.

Some people when they watch a movie either won't get it, or have heard to much hype about it or even just compare it to other movie's that they prefer (In your case it seems to be Lion King) and from your comments I just don't see eye to eye with you, and I know that you don't expect anyone to, cause as you said before "Dont shout, these are my personal opinions!"

So yeah fair play to that but I can't understand why you just wanna talk negatively about a movie on a forum that is based on that movie. I mean, I don't like hunting but I'm not going to go on to hunting forums and point out all the things I dislike about it, the same goes with movies I don't like, it's just... not on. All in all I don't mind if someone has a problem with it but why did it have to be here on a forum you know is enthusiastic about the film, cause it's not gunna change anyone's opinion and will more than likely just dampen a few people's spirit's with this abrupt negativity. Oh and lastly the point's you made were... just kinda annoying, I wasn't offended as it's someone's opinion but I had a hard time taking them seriously.

P.S
...You found Star creepy? How is that possible???

Why do I get the feeling that you made this topic just because of the topic about TLK being overrated?

But while I'm here, I may as well say what I think:

Call me blunt, as this is what I've said many, many times before, but I'd just like to point out that these are OPINIONS, like you said. Like the OPINIONS in the TLK thread.
Why do I point this out, you might ask? Well, I might be the only one who sees this, but you seem to be overreacting about what other people think - and I'll admit that some Balto fans are doing the same, so everybody listen up.
Nobody here is presenting their opinion as a fact, and nobody should take it as such. If you can't handle a bit of "I don't like -insert movie here-" then you shouldn't be posting. Especially not if you do exactly the same thing, just with a different movie. All because you got offended at the other post.

I've noticed that a lot of people here are highly sensitive. This is... odd, for me, because I come from Furry Paws where everybody has at least some basic knowledge about the common interest (dogs) and so therefore calm discussions are easy to come by. There is the odd exception, but that is usually because of a highly controversial topic.
On Animation Source, however, there is more than one discussion subject, and I find that that leads to a lot of fights because of different opinions. A bit like luring two people who don't like each other into a fighting ring together.

Mmm. To sum up this novel I just wrote, everyone here needs to calm down and stop taking everything seriously. If you like Balto, good for you. Likewise TLK. But don't bother starting fights about something so petty as your favourite movie.

There's a HUGE difference between the design of an animation film and its animation. You may not like the design of the characters, but that doesn't mean the animation is bad.
To me Balto has one of the best animation I have ever seen, with Fievel goes west. Not even Disney films really matched it.

And why's that? Because Disney films have songs? I don't think the film missed a song, not at all. On the contrary, I think that's one of the good things, that makes it more mature than the average.

well then dont flame our boards!

You may not like it, but I have no problem with this topic, it's fine to debate on such things.

fisrt of all, I know why you're mad. AND I don't like the reason. you're acting like a spoiled child. please stop overacting, everybody!

never mind that. let's get back to the topic.

well, you have to seperate the first movie and the sequels. the creaters weren't the same team. and the quality is very differrent. (to me,the 1st is exellent. the sequels were...opposite.)

for Balto1, I even think it's underrated. the animation's better than some Disney's. (not TLK off course.) the quality is very exellent, but not given much attention because they released the film in the same season of Toy Story. bad move...

for the sequels, YES! the sequels are highly overrated! they can't be any worse. The songs are stupid. they shouldn't have added some songs. but you know, I'm glad they're overrated enough to make it to my country. :P even though they suck, I wanted to see them anyway.

ps. WOC is slightly better than WQ. only slightly. not good enough. it could have been better without Stella. I really hate her, you know what?
somehow I'm glad that there's no more sequels.

Ok good post, I actually didn't know someone who I'm guessing from Balto Source went and made a "Is the Lion King overrated" topic. If I had then I probably would have seen the reason behind this sudden and random topic on "Overrated Balto."

However as stated before by someone else, Gold Kitty your post is nothing more then a retort, someone made a disagreeing post on TLK so you had to come and make one one our board. That makes me feel a little better actually as the points I were making about your own reasons for disliking Balto seem even more valid now. Your just trying to find any reason you can to disagree with Balto to defend your own perfect movie because you like it so much (as you should).
Or maybe it's me not taking in what your saying and just ignoring them because I like Balto so much and don't want to see it badmouthed on it's own forum. However I don't think so, I like to think I'm a clear minded person who can take a breath and look at a situation and in my perspective this is nothing more then a backlash because of what got started on the TLK forums.

However I do feel bad about the negative 'overrated' thread on TLK forums as I don't think the best place to bring it up is amongst the film's loving fans, its just a bit harsh and will only likely open up arguements. Lastly however TLK is a great movie, I havent seen it in nearly a decade and I've never seen the sequels but its really really well known and with good reason to! But Balto isn't, so I ask you, how can something so vastly underrated and almost cultlike in it's fanbase be so overrated?
