Simba changed because he didn't want the things that happened to himself and Nala,to happen also to Kiara.

Yep.
The same happened with Tramp, Ariel, etc. I do miss their old selves and often wonder why they couldn't have kept more of their old personalities blended with the newfound responsibilities and worries, but parenthood does change a lion..or dog..or mermaid, or whatever..

Mhm. He did change. And he changed too much for me DX

He's turned into the usual 'over-protective daddy' which is popular amoung animated sequels. Like Balto 2 for instance. I hate what they've done to the Balto we know and love in this craptacular movie. XD But I don't hate Simba in TLK2; for this film was MUCH better planned out than WQ; you can tell the creators put alot more time and thought into it. But yahh...he was way too over-protective. And that really got annoying.

The first film will always be the best to me. I find almost everything about it better than the sequel. XD But don't get me wrong; I love the sequel. But the original will always be best ^^

no offence to all you Simba lovers out there but.. i didn't like him in the TLK2...he was bossy, and way to stubborn. I would of liked it if Simba had been killed when the ambush occured..a nice little twist. :D

That was one of the few things that I didn't like about Simba's Pride. Simba was too overprotective. I can understand why he wanted Kiara to be safe - he didn't want her to go through the same experiences that he did, but I felt he was a little OTT. Still, at least his character wasn't completely destroyed like Balto's was in Wolf Quest.

Actually I just think Balto didn't want Aleu to end up as a stray like him. But that's off-topic.

Yes, he changed too much for me. Over-protective Simba is not Simba.

of course he did, he understood the rolls of being a parent, and trys to stop kiara from doing the things he did when he was a cub.

He sure changed color! Look how orange the poor thing is! :(

Anyway, now for something more on the topic of what you're talking about.
I doubt anyone who has lived his whole life in Hakuna Matata would know how to raise a cub. Simba is probably just trying to make sure Kiara doesn't become like him and live her life in the easy lane of Hakuna Matata.

I liked the carefree Simba raised by Timon and pumbaa a lot more. I think they both had a great influence on him. But in this one, Simba is a lot more serious. It seems natural at first, being king and all, but when you see the bitterness on Simba and Zazu's faces, it makes you wonder what has happened. I think it would have been very interesting to see how Simba banished Zira and the lionesses. I imagine he was pretty cruel. The only reason Zira was mad at Simba is because she thinks he killed Scar, when in fact he didn't. Zira wasn't there! (It's not that different from Spider-Man 3. Harry Osborne had a great respect for his father, but since he didn't witness what actually happened, he thinks Peter Parker killed his father. However, when the subject of Flint Marko (Uncle Ben's killer) came up, we see that Peter has HIS OWN anger to deal with! And if you've seen the movie, you know how bad he gets....) I imagine that when Simba saw the first signs of loyalty to Scar, he got out of hand. As we see, he dosen't even thank Kovu for saving his daughter. Instead, he paces and fumes (like a lion!). He says, "We'll see who you really are." with such contempt! It's not really until Kiara makes him see that "we are one", does Simba learn to do what Timon taught him, which is to let go of his past. Still, it's fun for those who like a darker tale to conclude the trilogy.

I agree Simba changed :? , but I think he only became more overprotective because he had a daughter and he was king. Simba had more responsibility, but I do think he was TOO strict..... I like the Simba in TLK 1.

I know this may be off-topic, but I think Simba is over-protective because his first cub, Kopa, was killed by Zira. I know that Kopa's only mention is in a series of books, called "The Lion King: Six New Adventures", but those books are official. And, because Simba looks so different from the end of the first movie to the beginning of the second, probably the cubs aren't the same. So, probably Kopa was killed by Zira, and that's why Simba hates Zira and is so over-protective to Kiara.

Those books may be seen here:
