Part One.

Aqauita hit the ground with a audible smack.
I whined,My yellow,black,and tan coat shimmering.
"Hey puppy,"The wolf growled."I dont know,Gunner.It's a hybrid,"A tan wolf said.
"A dog is a dog,even if that dog eats cat chow."The gray wolf snarled.
I skittered back,I was only six weeks old at the time,my ears still flopped over as if I was some sort of lab.I ran until I slid inside a small hole in a wall.I smelt the place.It was funny.My nose crinkled.I walked around,looking for somewhere to sleep.I curled up ina a alley,sighing.I missed Aqauita's warmth.It was nice.I slowly drifted asleep.

1 year later

"Hey,Hey,Austy,a dog barked at me.
I blinked back at it."Derail?"I cocked my head to the side at the female all-white akita exzempt from her pink nose and a grey splotch on her muzzle,wrapping around it.
"Hey,Rail,"I said,taking a deep breath."Yeah.You know.....They're coming,"She said,her black collar bobbing.
"Who?"I aksed,blinking.
"The pound people..they'll get you,"She warned.
"I knew it would eventually happen,"I rolled my jade eyes to meet her brown ones."I mean,honestly,Am I dumb?!"I asked,dancing around her.
"No.."She said.
I smiled...Until I felt something around my neck.I snarled and pulled and barked and snarled some more.Then I got real dizzy.I heard Derail calling my name..but then..I couldnt hear anything.
"Hey,Hey,KID!"A large Black and Brown dog was barking in the cage beside me,and a Black one was standing over me."Kid,are you okay?You've been out for at least six hours...They gave you enough sedate to knock a Dane out.."
"Oi,Yes,Yes.Im O.K."I stood up.
"What's your name,Kid?"The dog asked.
"Oh!I'm Austin."I said,flicking my bobbed tail.It was really fluffy,but still short.
"What breed are ya,kid?"
"Uhm.."The brown wolf and his pack flashed through my mind."Im a..er..um...HUSKER.Yeah."I nodded to regain my composure.
The dog scoffed."You smell like wolf,Wolf-dog."He mumbled."Dont worry.You're already adopted,kid."
"A-Dopted?"I sounded it out.
"Yep,see?"A teenage boy was coming through some doors,a collar and leash in hand,a key inbetween his fangs.
I cocked my head.The boy opened the cage."Hello,Tori."He said,calling to me.
I arched a brow."you have GOT to be joking.My name is AU-ST-IN.Sound it out,dummy."
The boy slipped the collar around my neck and buckled it,clipping the leash on and leading me out.
"C'mon,girl,"He said,taking me through the doors and out of the goshoresaken place.

I broke into house life rather well.Ralph was'nt ALWAYS there.He had to go to school and such,But I always waited outside for him.One day,I was waiting on the school steps.There was a red-and-cream dog passed by the school.He was yelling about trash and something named Dakota.I could not help but giggle at him.He froze,his ears pricking forwards.He looked at me like he was a deer caught in the headlights.I laughed.Snow covered my pelt.I stood,but I would never leave the school steps.He blinked,and his tail feathered back and forth.He was smiling as he trotted over.I shook out my pelt."Hi,"I said.He blinked."Hey.Im Gu-Er,Dingo.."He said."Im Austin,"I wasnt sure why I was giving this dog my name,It just felt right.He smiled again,a flash of ivories."So you're new here,no?"I nodded."Yes."
"Why arent you leaving the high school steps?"He asked."Oh,Ralph is in there.I stay until he gets out."I explained."So,Dingo,How long you been around?"Dingo looked back and forth,counting."Er,long enough."He grinned.I rolled my eyes and grinned back,then a scent filled my nostrils.WOLF.
"Youre a wolfdog!"I yipped.
"Yeah,well,Hybrid,but,"He sighed.
"Me too!"I held out my tiny paws that had claws like razors.
He perked his ears once more."Really?That..intresting."He said.
I heard a bell ring and jumped into the school,my collar bobbing at my neck.Ralph caught me and picked me up.I weight no more than 35 pnds.I laughed and barked and licked his face.I missed him when he was at school!I wish he had known.I bet he owuldve stayed home.
Dingo looked at me as I went by,still in Ralph's arms."I know that look,"He whispered."Itll get her heartbroken,"He shook his head and sighed.
I jumped down,laughing and jumping.I was so happy I didnt hear Dingo bark at me.

I smiled as Ralph walked with me on the way home.He would talk about his day and I would listen intently.I was left outside as Ralph had to speak with his mother.I sat in the yard,laying down eventually.I dozed off quite some time later.I saw the red-and-crema husky again when I woke up.It was only then I discovered he and I were neighbors.I rolled my eyes yet walked up to the fence anyway."Heya,Gu-er,Dingo,"I said,my bobbed tail a wagging.He gave me a stern look.It was kind of scary."What?"I asked.He arched a brow."The human.You love him,"He stated simply.The fur on my back bristled in anger."Of course I do!Who doesnt love thier human?!"Dingo took a step back."Well,I suggest you be careful,What you want may not be what you want,Austin.."He said,flicking his tail and walking into his backyard.

After a few months,Ralph got really busy...then he got real sick,Cancer is what they called it.I found it odd,though,because he had never ever never smoked a ciggarette,Not three weeks after that,he passed on.I was heartbroken.Sophie,his mother,never really cared much for me and was going ot sell me.I got to where I nestled against the fence,not eating or drinking.I saw Dingo look at me once.His brows furrowed.He trotted over the fence the next night,curling up against me."You're going to die if you dont eat,"He said,laying his head on my neck to keep me warm.His tail was wrapped halfway around me.I said nothing.My green eyes held no spark,I just..layed there.

The next morning,Dingo brought me this wierd thing called bread.I sniffed it and turned away.Every morning he would try to get me to eat.Every morning I would refuse."You can't just give up,"He said."It's ridiculous."I blinked up at him.He stared down at me.I looked at the bread and started eating it.He gave a wide grin.I smiled,eating some snow to hydrate myself,I scratched a ear.He padded off,"Ill be back in the morning,"He said.I nodded,laying my head on my paws.

The next morning,I was walking around the yard.A strange man came in my yard,went in the house,and brought Sophie out.She clipped a leash to my pink collar and gave me to the man.I pinned my ears,staring at her in disbeilef.I barked.I pulled.I DIDNT WANT TO LEAVE!I jerked backwards,and ran forwards.I landed on my back.I howled.That made most people leave me alone.This man only laughed an patted my head.I whimpered.I had been broken my Ralph.I was a man's best friend kind of dog now,and you do not bite the hand that feeds you.The man walked me out of the fence and closed it.He hoisted me into his pickup truck,tying my leash to a metal bar on each side.I perked my ears when I heard snow crunch,"Dingo!"I yelped.He stared at me,his ears pinned.He turned around and walked to his backyard.
"Dont leave me.."I murmered as The truck lurched forwards and we drove away.

"Look,"Dusty whispered.
I just rolled my eyes and nestled in the straw,sighing deeply.
"New doggy?"Kirby asked.
"Yes."Ralph said,yawning and smackign his maw afterwards.
I stared at each of them in turn as they talked.
"Where's Kodi?"Ralph asked Dusty.
"Probably still talking to his dad."Dusty replied.
The doggy door shook and a red-and-white husky jumped through.I stared.He looked a awful lot like Dingo.I looked at his eyes.They weren't that brillant shade of blue.I rolled mine and laid my head back down."Dad says that Dingo and Aleu are doing well."He shook off his pelt.
"Do you mean a red-and-cream husker,like you?"I stood up on my delicate paws.
"Gus/Dingo?Yeah."He said,staring at me."Who is she?"
"She's the new swing dog."Dusty said.
"Im Austin!"I wagged my tail furiously.
"TinyTail,"Kirby laughed.
"Shh,"Kodi said."How do you know my brother?"He asked,his brow furrowing.
He acted like Dingo!My tail wagged faster."He was my neighbor,before."My tail drooped.Now I missed him!Doggonit,WHY?
Dusty whispered something to Ralph and Kirby.
Kodi smiled,"Well,welcome,Austin!"He grinned.
I straightened,smiling.I was no bigger than a austrailan Shepard..but still!

It was almost two years after I'd been drug to this town.I panted as I ran,my tongue hanging out of my mouth,I laughed.Kodi looked back ay me briefly,and we came to a paddign stop."Hey,is that?"Kodi blinked,squinting.The was a Red-and-Cream dog in the street.I blinked.I'd hit my head several months before,and remembered nothing."Who is that?"I asked.Kodi looked at me."If it's who I think it is,It's Dingo!!"He barked.They let us off our harnesses and Kodi ran to the dog.Dingo looked at him and backed up,then grinned.I hid behind Kodi.He watched after me and taught me the ropes...like a older brother.
"Hey,Dingo!"He barked.
"Hey,Kodi,"He said,grinning wide.
I crouched under Kodi.He had to stand on his tiptoes to NOT step on me.
"Austin?"Dingo whispered when Kodi stepped away from me.
I whimpered."Who are you?"
He looked broken inside.Like that had hurt."Im Gu-Er,Dingo,Remember?"
I shook my head no.
Kodiak's tail drooped.
I sighed,looking into his deep blue pools.I remembed a warm tail,and his head resting on my neck.Ralph dying in front of my eyes.I gasped,my eyes turning glassy as I started to cry,I ran.

The next day,Dingo was in the straw beside Kodiak.My eyes fluttered open and I stared.He was still here,the warm dog.I shook my head and walked out into the snow,my small,delicate paws making little holes.I heard a louder crunch and looked to my side."Morning,Dingo.."I smiled.
He wagged his tail in delight."You wanna go for a walk?"He asked me.
I nodded,starting off towards Balto's boat.
"So,what happened to make oyu not remember anything?"He asked.I want to make her remember...He thought.But why?He asked himself,padding onto the thick ice after me.
I looked at him,"Something wrong?And Kodi says I busted my head."
"No,No,Not at all."he braced his legs as a Russian goose flew into him,smack between his eyes."OH,you are good,yes?!"Boris asked.
"Yes.Very."Dingo laughed.
Boris flew onto my back,carful to land on my strong shoulders and not my delicate back."And how is the pretty lady today?"
"I am good,Boris."I nuzzled him and he jumped down,waddling to the boat,Dingo and I falling into step behind him.
"Balto ish not here today,"He said.
"Oh!"I yelped,"I just wanted to play on the Ice,Boris."
He nodded,"Be very careful,little duck."He said,shooing me and Dingo off.I ran across the ice,which under,was miles and miles of ocean,millions of gallons of freezing water.Dingo sat on the shore.
I slid and I slipped,laughing and giggling and chasing my tail.Crack.I looked down.The Ice was cracking around me.I'd found a soft spot!!!I fell through and felt the ice slice up my forelegs.As I looked around and strugged to get back up,the water around me was red.The ice had floated right back into it's place!!!my eyes widened.
"..Austin?"Dingo asked,running across the ice."AUSTIN!"He yelled.
I swam for a opening,any opening.
Dingo ran after me and backed up.
Oh god,he was going to make his own!!!I felt myself float to the bottom,about 20 feet or so under,hit the freezing bottom.
Dingo bakred and his paw busted thorugh the ice.He clawed at the hole to make it bigger,then jumped in after me.
I saw a hazy red figure before I passed out.

"Is she alive,even?"Raine asked,her ears pricked.
"YES!"Durmur the setter spat.
"Jeez,okay,sorry!"Raine yelled,they tried to step forward and Dingo snarled.
I opened my eyes."Im..c-c-cold."
"I know,But Red-furface wont let any of us by!"Raine snapped.
I looked around,Kirby,Kodi,Raine,Ralph,and Durmur were standing on edge,their fur prickled and stood on end.
WHY am I being so over-protective?!Dingo thought,being rather demandive of himself.He continued to growl low in his throat.I could feel it in my neck,the vibration of it.
"LET US HELP OR SHE'LL DIE!"Durmur snarled,flexing his paws.
"Let them help,Dingo.."Jenna said,pushing herself through the doggie door.
Dingo calmed.Raine ran over and psuhed herself against me,Then Durmur.Then,finally,Ralph,Kodi,and Kirby.I shuddered still,even under all their warmth.
A few hours later,they all clambered off of me.
I stood up,shaking my pelt.My collar flew off of me.It hit the ground with a CLANG.I padded over to it.
Memories flashed like pictures.Aqauita,hitting the ground,blood pooling around her,the snarling Graywolf,The light tan one that was intent on saving my life,calling me a hybrid,Sleeping in the abandoned warehouse,spending my days with Derail,playing,The black dog over me,Dingo,Ralph,Sophie,The musher.I did a double over.Dingo came before Ralph.I was discombobulated,I stumbled.The onslaught of memories was pressing me over.Durmur asking me to be his mate,Me saying no,him becoming a diffrent dog entirely after being attacked by a wolf.Raine shying away at the sight of a dog being beat,then springing forwards and killing the dog hurting the puppy.The blood on her muzzle as she turned to grin at me.The fear I felt..
I ran.I ran as fast as I could,and I could run as fast as,if not faster than Balto.

hey. i have only red the first little bit and the way you described the way Aqauita hit the ground with an audible smack and the way you describe the fur.

Yeah, Dingo is the more quiet one in my story. Dakota is the more talkative one. But thats ok, this is a fic XD
