Chapter 1
It was a dark and rainy night, when suddenly lightning struck a nearby tree. It was pouring like hell when the rain fell from the dark dreary skies. Everyone in the Asylum Lands wanted to see the birth of the Prince, but there were some that wanted to kill the poor innocent cub. That pride was known as the Maskins. They wanted nothing more but to see the cub laying on the cold hard ground gasping for its last breath. They were all pacing the floor wondering how they were going to kill this soon-to-be King. One suggested that they should launch a surprise attack. Others thought otherwise.
Another had been thinking real hard about how to stop this cub from becoming the heir to the throne. He thought to himself, “What can we do to insure that he won’t be King?” He then thought, “Well, all of us could attack the King and Queen and distract them from the cub. And then one of our most stealthy lions can take him and leave where he is no where to be found.” He was lying down at the time, he then stands up and says, “I got it… the perfect plan.”
The leader, Exton, wakes up from his short nap and says, “Well get on with it.”
The Queen of the Asylum Lands was having a baby, hoping that the cub would grow up to be a great Prince and then rise to assume his place as King. So they made this necklace out of rock and made one of their servants to carve his name into the round charm of the necklace, Midnight. But one night, after the cub was born there was an ambush on the Kingdom and the little cub was taken away from his parents before he was old enough to know who they were. The lion who took the cub ran far away from its parents, so that they wouldn’t be able to find them. The perpetrator dropped the cub in a nearby bush and left him there to starve. He didn’t want anyone ruining his plans.
It’s been two weeks since the cub’s been spotted and it’s been munching on the leaves on the ground. Until one day there were two lions, a male and a female, that happened to waltz by and spot this cub and took it in as their own.
Their names were, Sumal and Balzo, they were very fortunate that they found this cub. They’ve wanted a cub for a long time, and this was their chance to show that they had the capability to handle it. They noticed that there was this emblem around the little lost cub’s neck; it said “Richard.” It looked like it was carved with claws of a lion. They gasped when they say the name. Balzo thought to herself, “I wonder why and how Prince Richard got all the way out here? I’m sure the King and Queen are looking for him right now…”
Moments after the Kingdom of Osylin was intruded, the King and Queen sent out their army of lionesses to find their lost son, and soon-to-be King. The King was pacing the floor and the Queen was lying down at her throne, weeping of the loss of her son, with her friends at her side.
One of them said, “It’s going to be alright, we will find him… one way or another.” And the rest of her friends just stayed by her side in her time of need.
King Staron was still pacing the floor when his advisor, Bladen walked up to him and said, “Are you going to be alright?”
King Staron just stopped, turned around to look at Bladen, and then he said, “No… no I won’t, Bladen.”
Bladen replies sympathetically, “I’m sure that whoever took your son, we will find them and stops them. Or we could just kill him?”
King Staron yells, “NO!” Bladen is startled by his voice. He then continues, “I want that perpetrator brought here to me…”
Bladen nodded quickly and riposted, “I’ll send out a scout to the army to let them know.”
Hours after the scout left from Osylin Rock, it’s like their type of castle; the scout reached the army’s location. He ran up to the commander named Saulon and said, “Sir, I must impose on your search.”
Saulon pivoted and answered, “How so?”
The scout replied, “The King has sent a message consisting of you bringing the perpetrator to him alive.”
Saulon casually starts to walk away and says, “I certainly will.” Then he and his troops walk away into the sunset.
It started to get darken in the sky when the scout was returning home; when suddenly as he was walking through the grassy areas of the Asylum Lands when he heard a motion in the grass beside him. He stopped and looked around swiftly and he couldn’t see anything. So he just continued on walking. Then he heard it again, he turned around to see if it was behind him and it wasn’t. So then he thought to himself, “Am I going insane?” He thought nothing of it until that night; he then kept on walking keeping an eye on his surroundings.
Just then, in those same bushes, were two little henchman to Exton, they taciturnly walked as if they were following him. And once they got the chance, they’d kill him. They had no clue what the scout was talking about to the army of the King, but they knew that it had to of been about them cub-napping the Heir to the Throne, Midnight.
And still as Exton sits at his alter, his army some-what still alert, they hear a faint noise from the entrance to the cave and they all stand in alert, and to their surprise they find one of their scouts waltzing in. They all stand down while the scout walked toward Exton. He stood before him and said, “They have reached their destination. They are slowly but surely closing in on their target, sir.”
Exton looks up slowly and stares down at his trusty scout and answers, “Good… Now go and rest, I’m sure that I’ll need you once more in the future.”
Then the scout lies himself on the ground and sleeps.
The King and Queen have still been pacing the floor waiting for their scout’s return, when one of their generals suggested, “Why don’t I and my brigade and go and search for him?”
The King replied, “No, let us wait a little while longer. I’m sure that whatever’s holding him up that it’s only minor and hopefully that won’t take too long.”
Moments later, the two henchmen are still stalking the lone scout of the King and Queen. They are still waiting for the right moment to strike. When suddenly the scout stops, it looks around once more, it keeps searching for something so the henchmen keep backing off so their cover isn’t blown. Then the scout shrugs its shoulders and then starts to walk again. One of the henchmen starts to think to himself, “Why don’t we just strike already? What’s holding us back?” So he looks over to his left and spots his partner, he nods to him in motion that they are going to strike.
The scout that was sent out by the King and Queen is still exploring through the wretched grassy area where he hasn’t been before, so he wasn’t sure where he was and that gave the hunters a better chance to strike. They stalked this lone scout until the moon was aligned with their position and then one of them jumped out from the bushes and trampled onto the scout. The other one just ran out from in front of the scout and slashed the side of his face with his blade-like claws. The scout was left with a mark on the right side of his face while the other one was on top of him biting into his neck and slashing him as well. The scout fell to the ground in excruciating pain and breathed its last breathe. The two hunters look down at the scout and thought, “Our job is done…” They both then walk off in the other direction back to their leader.
King Staron and Queen Pinon are lying at their thrones when one of their other generals’ walks up to them, bows then says, “I have just heard from one of my spies that the scout you sent was killed.”
King Staron just blankly stares out at his general, thinking to himself, “***** that Exton…” Then he walks down from his throne and while walking past the general stares at him with a sort of look that just strikes fear into the general’s eyes. Queen Pinon just lays down at her throne and just sighs, and says softly to herself, “Ahh… another lost in the midst of hatred and violence.” Then she walks off to meet her friends.
King Staron is still furious at Exton for killing his scout, but he’s still certain that he must rebel against his action. He starts to think to himself for possibilities and just then his most trusted advisor, Bladen, walks up to him and asks, “Why don’t you create a diversion and then attack his reinforcements?” King Staron starts to contemplate whether or not this plan will actually work, once he’s done he’s confident that this plan will be a success and says to Bladen, “I like your idea, let’s see if he’ll fall for it.”
His Head General suddenly walks toward where King Staron and Bladen were standing and asks, “What might this be about?”
King Staron just glances at his general and says, “It’s about a plan that my most trusted advisor, Bladen, just thought of.”
The Head General replies, “Am I apart of it?”
King Staron replies sinisterly, “Yes… yes you are…”
The Head General replied sort of evil like, “Certainly… what must I do?”
King Staron walks closer to him and whispers the plan into his ear. The Head General roars for his army and sets off into the sunset.
It was close to dark and the Head General’s army was closing in on their enemy when one of the soldiers stepped on something soft. He looked down and was struck with fear. He looks up with fear in his eyes and said to the Head General, “General, you might want to come and see this.”
The Head General stopped in his tracks and said, “What is…” And looked down and saw the deceased body of the King’s scout just lying there on the ground. He grieved at the sight of the scout, but he said, “I’m sorry, but we must move on.” Then the Head General and his army kept moving to their destination.
