Okay, so I think this belongs here. But I'm sick of this.

I went out to buy a Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD. I was happy, I could watch Order of the Phoenix again, and most likely spend around three hours as I usually do on the HP special features disc.
I spent one hour with it. It sucked.

Okay, so basically all they did, was a Language feature, "Deleted Scenes" that only included totally removed scenes instead of earlier revisions of scenes, a section about editing that was insanely boring and had some stupid scene editor tacked onto the end of it, and a tour around the studio filmed by the girl who had played Nymphadora Tonks (forget her name) and her brother.

Okay, the tour was nice... although the annoying Marauder's Map-esque bits in between were seriously annoying, and it was very brief in many places. Warner Brothers didn't even bother with it, they just took it and threw it in the DVD. The deleted scenes were short and lacked in many earlier revisions of scenes that I'm guessing would have been there, and the Language feature was useless.

The previous four DVDs had a buttload of stuff. They kept me happy for ages. Sure, maybe not so much the first two, but even they had more features than this rushed thing.

This goes for a lot of DVDs. I popped the Wings of Change Special Features on and all there was was this childish game that sucked. No deleted scenes. Nothing.

I am SICK and TIRED of companies CONSTANTLY rushing out DVDs for a quick release and not bothering with the Special Features DVD. This happened with Ratatouille apparently as well. Special Features DVDs are supposed to contain real special features - commentaries, 'The Making Of's, things that actually show us what's really behind the scenes, what really goes on. The Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmarron DVD was a one disc, but it actually had good features. There was a learn-to-draw horses, a section about the music, the animation, the effects etc etc. But lately there's been a flow of Special Features being very inadequate and boring. It really takes away from the real meaning of Special Features, because they aren't special at all. They're plain, they're boring and I don't like them.

Who else is with me?

Firstly, I completely and totally agree with you--I always look forward to the special features of movies that I loved, and am ashamed of them when they decide to cheap out on those. It has been happening much more often than it should. We want features that are actually worth the money, ones that increase our knowledge of the movie's background, creation, etc.! DX

But secondly--Order of the Phoenix is out on DVD? I thought it wasn't being released until December 11. I can't *wait* to buy this movie! Of course, I'm VERY disappointed to hear about the bonus feature disc. =| I thought OotP was the best Harry Potter film yet. There could be soooo much to look forward to on the second disc! How dare they give us lame features! There is no excuse for that.

Hey - I thought the Wings of Change game was fun! (Although I'm a sucker for DVD games).
But I agree with you. A lot of special features I find on two-disc DVDs could easily be fitted onto one disc.

However, the rant board is for rants about the site, so me thinks this should be moved.

It came out about two weeks ago, actually. I would have been fine with a December 11 release if they had worked more on it, but I guess they wanted it out quickly before the Christmas DVD rush. I don't really think it was the best of the series XD, kinda choppy, and they knew it. Therefore, they quickly rushed it out >O.

This is actually for rants about this site. I'll move this to the Other section. Just so you know, any non-Animation Source/BaltoSource/TLKSource rants go there.

You don't say!! I cannot believe it, I haven't seen it or heard anything... Wow..I need to get it. It *was* a bit choppy, but still definitely my favorite; I'll get it despite the lousy special features..*grumble*
