In case you don't know, an "anachronism" is something that appears, but shouldn't exist in that time period.

Balto takes place in the winter of 1925.

Someone noted the car that Balto hides under when shying away from Jenna. However, the first car was built in 1908, and continued until 1927. If the car was a Model T, it may not be out of place.

In the race scene, the musher's stopwatch looks like it might be digital. Can anyone confirm this? For it to be digital, wouldn't it need some kind of microchip? Microchips weren't developed until decades after this.

What other anachronisms have been found?

Well seein as though you cleared up the car I think its safe to say that the watch isnt digital, probably just a stop pocket watch they had... dont think the animators are that blind as to put in a digital watch in for 1925...they could have, but assuming that, that would be a bit of an insult to anyone's intellegence ;)

hmm.. I noticed that as well and I think you may be right on that..

and I doubt there was anything digital that far back in time. most digital stuff wasn't even invented untill the later end of the 1960's on so-on?

Or at least I think it was anyways?

That, and he shakes the watch. People normally don't shake digital watches, there's no moving parts.

Anachronisms in animated movies are rare. Everything is drawn. There's no need for props, or real life places which could contradict the setting.

my Dad has old analog (non-digital) stopwatches that look similar to the one in balto, so i don think the is anything wrong with that.

I'd think that shaking something with moving parts would be a bad thing. That could move one of the hands out of place, couldn't it?

The parts in a watch are extremely small. Their own mass wouldn't provide enough force to break out of place.

Unless you threw it at a wall.
