N00b question.
Waht is SMS?

If people repeat their mistakes, they'll be banned for longer times. But you can't expect people to be banned for months from mistake number one. Only if they keep breaking the rules, they'll get long bans.

It's like this:

You get banned for a day or two for spamming, so you know where you're going should you do so again. Doing so again will cause you to become banned for an even longer time, and it gets successively longer and longer each time you're banned, if you fail to change your ways each time. In extreme cases (*coughRayJcough*) should one refuse to change their ways after a ridiculous number of times being banned (some number around 20), it is possible to get banned permanently. This has only happened once, and I don't think it'll happen again, or at least not for a long time.

I was banned 1 time for spamming and i stopped spamming for good. But i only was banned for an hour i think it wasin't even a day. Weird huh?

That's the first time I hear that banned people complain for having been banned...for a too little time.
Anyway, as it has already been said, you won't get banned for long the first time, but you will be banned for a much longer time the second time. The length of the ban is exponential (ie it increases dramatically with the number of times you are banned, not just the double)
