I think they were both good.

I say Balto. He does not let his anger control him and he's unjudgmental with a heart of gold. Mufasa, I felt was real bully to Scar and the hyenas. If he gave them at least one ounce of respect, maybe his life could've been spared.

It's called keeping them in check. Scar was simply mad at Mufasa for being the firstborn (unless your in on something I missed), and you saw what happened when the hyenas were let loose. Saying that the hyenas wouldn't have been a problem if they were respected is like saying that if we didn't swat mosuitoes or wear bug spray, they wouldn't bite us.

If you ask me, I see the whole idea of hyenas 'destroying the Pridelands' as absolutely rubbish. Mufasa claims that all life should be respected, so don't hyenas count?

Rubbish? And I suppose the Pridelands just happened to die by chance, huh? Yes, life should be treated with respect. However, let's say we applied the logic you're using in the real world. First, we get rid of prisons. All the robbers and vandals and whatnot can run loose. Shall I go on?

But I just don't see why hyenas have to be portrayed like that. Why are they so bad? They only try to survive. Just because they kill doesn't make 'em criminals.

Well, I don't want a fight either, but the answer to your question depends on how you view the hyenas: as animals, or as human(ish) characters in hyena skins (so to speak). If you view them as human-like, then it's basically like terrorists. You have to either reason with them, or keep them in check to keep 'em from taking over. And I'm going to bet reason wouldn't work on those hyenas. As for if you view them as simple animals, then think of it this way: are antibiotics fair to bacteria? No. But they are often necessary to keep people from dying.

Balto is much more tough than Mufassa.

Why are we reawakening dead topics? This one should be locked. ...vs topics are also highly annoying and personally I think are just spam.
