Yes I've seen this. Here's a Example of What's Okay Though:
"I liked it but it could of been better. Try giving a little more detail of your characters' appearances, and maybe spell check your words."

That's okay because they're giving them advice :]

Believe me, all the mods who are able to do so go through the comments and check for comments like that. I mean, we don't consider things like "well, it could have been better if you did a few things differently, but it was fine otherwise" as mean, but things like "This sucked!" and other things I'm not allowed to post are considered as mean and offensive, and we make sure that they are either edited or deleted. We also give whoever posted those comments warnings, and then ban them if they continue doing so.

I feel your pain. This was what I once got as a 'comment.'

But I got over it, since that person (who shall remain anonymous) didn't have any fics of their own and everyone else liked my fanfic. I don't mind constructive criticism, but now I've put up a notice on my presentation saying 'If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.' I haven't had any more trouble since.

It's a bit complex, but I'll try to activate the possibility for the owner of the gallery to delete the bad comments posted in his gallery (and only this one)

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all

that isn't very kind if these people post those comments. it doesn't even matter if the mods stop them or not, people just shouldn't say that.

I find comments like:
" Oh well, it could of been better. (Insert suggestion)"
Is perfectly fine with me.
Yet things like,
" What is this piece of crap?" or " This looks like a five year old wrote it,"
Are mean.
But I actually haven't seen that many comments like that.

I try my best to write good stories, so that people will say its good. I don't mind constructive comments. Because, it'll help make my fanfics better. I haven;t even written that much yet though, but my parents say that I should become an author. That's my dream...

I do agree, very much. This is very annoying. Why can't people just listen and not state mean comments? Alot of times they'll probably just get flamed by the owner of the fan made things.

I support constructive critism. I think it's perfectly fine when someone says they don't like it and give an explaination. Actually, I think it's also fine when someone says they don't like it...as long as they're polite about though.

Example : "Personally, this fanfic wasn't for me. I didn't really enjoy it."

I think that's fine.

Example : "I think it would have been better if you (insert reason here)."

I think that is also fine.

What I think is NOT acceptable :

Example : "I hate this. It was so stupid !"

Example : "This sucks ! And you suck too !"

BOTH are completely unacceptable comments, in my opinion.

I've deleted my fair share of mean comments in fanfic galleries but the mean comments are constant. They're never gonna stop and the people who make comments such as that is proof that the person only does that to prove some stupid point of theirs which, in reality is no point at all. It shows that the person as no life. A balance in comments in a fanfic gallery is simple: No matter how many cruel comments people leave, it does not change the fact that even though there maybe less good comments, the good outweigh the cruel and the bad. The only way to deal with any bad comment is to ignore it and be honored by the fact that the writer has good comments in his/her fanfic gallery.
