I've read a lot of reviews and statements about Balto, on here and at IMDB, which say that Balto is 'the greatest animated movie ever.' And there's nothing wrong with saying that because most of them (I think) have grown up with Balto. I envy them, because I never really saw it properly until last December.
I know some people will hate me for this, but I do not think that Balto is greatest animated film ever made. However, I do feel that it is pretty close and that it definately deserves more than it got. It's one of my favourite films, but Bambi is the one at the top for me.
What do you think?

Balto is definetely one of the best. But personally, TLK gets a higher rate than me. But my fave animated film ever is The Simpsons Movie.
Balto has stunning smooth animation, and when you sit close to the TV screen and keep pausing and playing it, you need to really appreciate the movement of characters etc. It doesn't have any cheap, childish songs, and you can tell it wasn't JUST 'for kids'. It had quite alot of violence which was good; eg. when Balto hit the rock, you could see droplets of blood fly upwards from his head. The whole soul and spirit of Balto, and the fact that it was based on a true story is phenomenal.
Balto's one of my faves - and I almost like it more than TLK. Almost. But The Simpsons Movie beats them both for me xDDD

But what's with the option at the bottom?
I don't know how anyone could hate Balto. You'd be surprised...

Balto is better than Lion King, Aladdin, Land Before Time, and anything else for me, even Disney films. Heck, even live-action films don't compare to it in my eyes. It's the absolute best movie ever.

For me Balto is almost the best, but not quite. I think too that TLK is better, but just a little bit. Balto doesn't have songs, which is good, but there's something in the story of TLK that makes me like it more. Although I still love Balto

no, but almost. there are some unrealistic things like a russian goose raised a wolfdog. but other than that, it's fantastic. even better than some recent Disney movies.
and Balto had no songs, which is a very good choice to me. I don't like it when a character starts to sing in a midle of some critical event. TLK has songs, but not that kind. it's more like background music with lyrics, and I love it. ( "morning report" doesn't count. I don't like that song. it's the newest song added in the specail edition. )
andddd I definitely think Balto is BETTER than Bambi. no offence to Babbi fans. but Bambi's ending sucks. he doesn't even come to greet his babies. just... watch from far away.
and just as I say in my sig. Balto should be as famous as TLK. at very least it's quality is equals.

Unless by "some recent Disney movies" you mean High School Musical, that doesn't say much in my opinion. But a snow goose raising a wolfdog isn't neccessarily that far-fetched (pardon the pun). Consider, for example, that a daschund once nursed a litter of piglets until they were weaned (rather painful for the dog, since piglets have somewhat sharper baby teeth than puppies do). Also, cats have been known to raise litters of puppies, timberwolf cubs, and even (strangely enough) rats and mice. I'm not sure about the canine litters, but if my research is correct the rodent litters in question were sometimes adopted by the cat without human interference. There was even a lioness in a wildlife park who would chase mother gazelles away from their babies and try to raise the babies herself! So a snow goose taking in a wolfdog is, if still quite unusual, certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

It's really ironic that someone said that a goose raising a wolfdog is strange, then compared it to Bambi... a movie in which the main character is a deer that is friends with a rabbit and a skunk! In TLK, all of the exotic animals are subjects of the animal that eats them!
Balto is probably the least strange out of all of those.
