Why was Balto in cartoon brown when in real life he was black and white? anybody know?

For the same reason that he wasn't half dog in real life. The design of the movie balto is entirely different from the real one, to me.

Maybe to make sure that he wasn't confused with Steele. Course they could have made Steele brown and Balto black, but normally black is associated with evil or bad so maybe that's why he's brown.

I never thought much about this. Brown..hmmmmm it never ment much to me and when i saw pictures of balto i figured it was just black and white becouse color photographs hadn't been invented yet.

Balto looked just like steele. He probably acted like steele too. Maybe he even smelled like steele. Steele Smells like Ironore. He smells like a cool cave in Wisconsin. Ever smell a cave?

Hey that's not true. Notice the Pics that Balto dosen't slightly look like Steele.

Well he was grayish-brown to resemble closer to a wolf, since he was half wolf in the movie.
