Here is something that will be better then haveing to kill animals for food in the future. Here is the possible future of the meat industry if there is more suport which I encourage for animal rights reasons as well as enviromental reasons: http://www.new-harvest.org/default.php

I'd rather have a steak than some meat-substitute. Besides, grain harvesting for vegetarian diets kills just as many animals. Remember folks, Wheat is Murder.

About the thing with grain harvest it might kill just as many animals as eating meat. But if you look at it in this way eating meat is worse because not only do we kill the farmed animals but the amount of grain used to feed the animals has also caused pain to the animals in grain harvest. Also these meat cell cultures would taste just the same if done properly, is said to be safer, healthier as well as better for the enviroment then conventional farming. So you would be eating real meat, just created in a different way. So no creature was harmed in the creation of these new meat substitutes, nether in the farm or in the feilds so with saying wheat is murder here wouldn't hold much credibility here.

Well, call me murderer, but no mushed-up wheat cells can beat the taste of a good beef steak.

But then again, I'm a firm believer that humans were meant to eat meat (that's why there are creatures of lesser intelligence on the planet, like cattle, sheep and goats), and I don't feel guilty about it. I live on a poultry farm and that's what we do.

Exactly. We were meant to eat meat. It's healthy for us and imagine:
Everybody in the world is a Vegetarian. We eat all the plants. The "plant eaters" die then the canivores have nothing to eat. THE END :]

I am so against that new harvest junk. Cells from plants? Who the the heck came up with that? Animals were put on the earth for a reason.....for meat!

PS: What does this have to do with animals?

HrryNrmn: "grain harvesting for vegetarian diets kills just as many animals."
Actually, it doesn't: http://www.veganoutreach.org/enewsletter/matheny.html
Most meat is obtained from farm animals fed grains -- and the conversion of grains to meat is sufficiently inefficient that we would kill fewer wildlife by being vegetarian. However, suppose we obtained all our meat from farm animals raised on pasture. Using estimates of wildlife killed by pasture systems, that would still kills 5x as many animals as the equivalent protein obtained directly from plants.

Btw guys it did not say that the cells would be grown from plants, my guess is that the cells come from the animals. So we would get what we need from animals and there would be no death that would have came from it. So if these develope you would still get your meat from this source, just developed in another way. The nutrition and protien would be the same. So the arguement that it doesn't have good nutritional value arguement would be flawed. Btw hablis you make a good point. And then there is the fact that there is global warming caused by factory farms as well.

So what if the beef industry kills more? Plenty of animals are still killed by harvesters when you eat vegan. Therefore, you're no better, morally. You're still killing animals, unless you plant the grain yourself, use no pesticides on it, and harvest it by hand with a hand-scythe. Until you do that, no vegan has a moral grounds on which to accuse meat-eaters of anything.
