Ok, I made this topic because I think that wolves are misunderstood creatures.
Examples why?
The three little pigs, Ok, someone wrote this fairt tale and what happens, three pigs build three houses and a Big bad wolf comes and tries to eat them
Little red ridding hood,
The little girl goes off in the woods and the Big bad wolf stalks her and tries to eat her.
On a lot of different things Websites, books, tv ect. Wolves are decriped as blood thirsy creatureas that will kill anything.
In England wolves are extinct becuase the were all hunted because they where thought of as vile creatures that would come and kill. (Apart from zoos)
Actully, there is a more likly chance to be attacked by your pet
I personly think wolves are misunderstood creatures.
What do you think?

I'm sure we all know by now that wolves are misunderstood. I've seen so many topics just saying how misunderstood they are.

Actually, I think people in general are much better than they are given credit for. Most wolf-lovers get the idea that they are in a small community of wolf-lovers, when in an actual fact "Save the wolf!!!!!!1111!one!!1!twentyfour!" banners and forums are wherever you go. Yes, there are many people (farmers, mostly) who do fear/hate these animals, but a large percentage of people think them beautiful animals that deserve life.
In my experience, anyway.

Misunderstood? Heh, now you're thinking in a small box there. Ever considered the people living geographically isolated in the extreme climate zones like Northwest and Yukon Territories? I've experienced some pretty distinct differences between wolf behavior pampered in the States and the somber activity occurring in northern Canada. I always take my Remington 30.06 and my Colt Defender Compact 45 as a precautionary when traveling to Grid DO66, 48 kilometers from Yellowknife, Canada, with Winter approaching.
I respect wolves in gratuitous amounts (favorite animal), however, I cannot risk my friends or my own safety by having hunger-driven wolves aggressively breaking into base camp looking for the scents of food brought for the trip *again*. I'm just glad that a skyward warning shot from a .45 is all that was needed...
Yes, there is a misunderstanding, but not from the idea that people believe wolves are vile animals that destroy rather than balance, but rather that people don't often think about differences in wolf habitats. Go a winter out in the Northwest Territory and you'll catch on rather quick that wolves won't always be shy and afraid of you.

Wolves aren't bloodthirsty maneaters, but they aren't cute little puppies either. They rarely, if ever attack people, but they are still potentially dangerous wild animals.

Strawberry, could you PLEASE tell me why exactly you come to a wolf-lovers site, are a fan of balto (who is part wolf), yet, claim to want to get a wolf hunting lisense. you really dont sound like any type of canine lover to me when you continue to day that. wolves are living creatures, that must eat just like any other animal in the world.

It's the same with Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, and any other 'misunderstood' animal. With the difference that the dogs mentioned actually benefit from those prejudices, as a lot of people who like to act 'bad' want to own one (often with adverse affect for the dog). Note that the benefit is one of quantity, not of life quality.
