I agree. SOME of the dogs that are bred together are okay. But some are a little odd. XD I know Tibb has a daschound (sp?) x GSD. I thought it was rather interesting. Apparently she is sweet as pie and stuff... but I thought the combo was a little odd. XD

SOME of the crosses are okay, but most of them I don't like, and most of them (if not all of them) I wouldn't try myself! Something like a Rottibull... I don't see something like THAT wrong. But breeding large breeds with poodles... I dont know. That's just... eck. DX

By designer breeds I mean any two dogs of completely different breeds that have been bred together in order to make pups with rediculas names.

Some examples are:
Labradoodles (Lab X Poodle)
Goldendoodles (Golden Retriever X Poodle)
Cockapoos (Cocker Spaniel X Poodle)
Puggle (Pug X Beagle)
Peekapom (Pekingese X Pomeranian)
Miniature Rottweiler (Pekingese X Miniature Pinscher)
Borderjack (Border Collie X Jack Russell Terrier)
Borderstaffy (Border Collie X Staffordshire Bull Terrier)
Rottibull (Rottweiler X Pit Bull)
Maltipoo (Maltese X Poodle)
Dorgi (Dachshund X Corgi)
Australian Bulldog (Australian Shepherd X English Bulldog)
Schnoodle (Poodle X Schnauzer)
Aussiedoodle/Aussie-Poo (Australian Shepherd X Poodle)
Poochon/Bicha-poo (Bichon X Poodle)
Boxerdoodle (Boxer X Poodle)
Cavapoo/Cavadoodle/Cavoodle (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X Poodle)
Chipoo/Poochi (Chihuahua X Poodle)
Cockapoo/Spoodle (Cocker Spaniel X Poodle)
Doxiepoo/Doodle (Dachshund X Poodle)
English Boodle (English Bulldog X Poodle)
Eskapoo/Eskipoo/Pookimo (American Eskimo Dog X Poodle)
Westiepoo/Wee-Poo (West Highland White Terrier X Poodle)
Whoodle (Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier X Poodle)
Yorkiepoo (Yorkshire Terrier X Poodle)
Scoodle (Scottiepoo Scottish Terrier X Poodle)
Shepadoodle (German Shepherd X Poodle)
Scoodle/Scottiepoo (Scottish Terrier X Poodle)
Lhasa Poo (Lhasa Apso X Poodle)
St. Berdoodle (St. Bernard X Poodle)
Terripoo (Terrier X Poodle)
Weimardoodle (Weimaraner X Poodle)
Poochin (Japanese Chin X Poodle)
Poogle (Beagle X Poodle)
Poo-Shi (Shiba Inu X Poodle)
Puffapoo (Chinese Crested Powder Puff X Poodle)
Pyrapoo (Great Pyrenees X Poodle)
Schipper-Poo (Schipperke X Poodle)
Papi-Poo (Papillon X Poodle)

etc. etc.

I myself think that it's foolish and rediculas, and I especially hate it when they try to sell them as purebreds.

Their prices are higher then those of Purebred Poodles, Papillons etc. and not to mention most of these "breeds" (In my opinion) are hideously ugly.

Some breeds I don't mind, my dog is a Rottibull and I don't think I could've picked out a better one. It doesn't bug me as much if the breeds are somewhat related, but what does bug me is when they take two COMPLETELY different breeds, such as Poodles and German Shepherds, and breed them together. First of all, German Shepherds are twice their size, and second of all, breeding a guard dog and a precious "house-dog" doesn't make any sence, the dogs future owners will only be disapointed. Poodles crossed with Saint Bernards? Great Pyrenees crossed with Poodles?! Come on!

I'm honestly surprised there isn't a Pit-a-poo (Pitbull X Poodle) yet.

I do agree with you, I find it quite strange. Though I own a Papischnauser (Papillon X Dwarf-Schnauser)

The main concerns I have about 'Designer' breeds is the homes they take away from shelter dogs.
After that size difference-ie Borderjack (Border Collie X Jack Russell Terrier).
Then inherited problems.
And are people who want 'Designer breeds' good dog owners?

I am neither for or against them. :?

Being untrained is not an inherited trait. O_o And actually, I found your post pretty offensive, though I don't own one of these dogs. What gives you the right to call -all- these dogs "ugly"? I could find a name for any mutt out there, does that automatically make it "ugly"? And "huge"? I could say things like that about Huskies and whoop, I'm dead. But it's OK for doodles, then? Plus, saying that you saw ONE bad Lab/Poodle cross makes them all bad... can anyone say "discrimination"?

OMG. You made a bad post. All BSers are now bad.

Anyways, I don't mind the dogs themselves (though I'd sooner own a Golden, LOL) or the owners, or the people actually trying to breed these dogs responsibly and make them a breed. I mind the millers who mistreat them.

And the names are ridiculous. What happened to mutts, mixes, and moggies? Or "I own a Lab mix" as opposed to "I own a Labrapoojackingershepxoloitzhuahua"?

Yes, I'm with most of the opinions....
I have nothing against the dogs. I'd gladly own one if one came my way.
But I do have a problem with irresponsible people selling them as fashionable "purebreds" for high prices when you can also go save any other mixed breed dog from the shelter who doesn't have a silly name, for much less.
And I also agree, it makes a little more sense when the two mixed breeds are at least somewhat similar to each other in the first place.
I mean..you could have any two purebreds crossed and combine the names for the resulting offspring. But anyone who's breeding dogs willy-nilly just to make money...not good.

I wouldn't mind as much if they were sold for a NORMAL price, like one or two hundred dollars, but $1000? Come on, people.

I think they they should be allowed to call them whatever they want, as long as people don't pay more than their worth - sense technically they're all mutts. XD Because they aren't purebred. They are TWO types of pure breeds, mixed together. But I guess I am not one to say anything, sense I technically don't know. XD But I think that they aren't purebred. P:

I'm not againest people who own them. However, I'm strongly againest people calling them pure breds, and selling them way over-priced and giving MUTTS such stupid names.

I'm fine with "Labrador X Poodle. $150." or something like that. But really, "pure bred Labradoodles". It bugs me alot. Alot of the mutts are cute, but it's a shame they will go as far as calling them "pure bred" and selling them for high prices. And giving them "cutesy" names so they can sell. It's not that I don't like the dog, it's just I dislike the people that call them pure-breds and sell them for way too much.
