I use various tactics, but my favorite is what I call "the mongol storm" when I make an army which is normally the mongols that is primarily 9 units of archers,3-5 spearmen, and the rest calvary and artillery,I just shower the enemy units one by one to decimate and cause a panic for them,then send the calvary to the flanks or rear for the enemy missile troops and when out of arrows,have the spearmen attack the most vunerable spot and the horsemen kill the general if he hasn't died already or supprt the infantry by attack the rear.It has proven to be highly effective when you use it right.Has I've said,I use many tactics(some using only calvary).A great way to help out is to read "the art of war".
Just so you know,the mongols were not islamic,despite some converted to islam and christianity.
