Here's the 2nd chapter, made by yours truly:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soon as the kitten’s eyes slowly opened, the first thing he saw was a seven headed lamp that shined down on him brightly. He tried to move, but all he felt were the straps. The surface he was lying on felt very cold almost as if he were lying on a metallic table. He also found that he was able to move his head and when he did he saw two small tables on either side of his own. The rest of the room was pitch black…
The table on the left had many creepy looking instruments, one of them which was and included many types of scalpels. On the right table stood numerous small bottles of liquid but seeing these made him wonder what they would be used for. Beside each bottle, lay a syringe each filled with a different colour of liquid. He had a hunch that they were not going to be used for medical purposes.
The kitten creased his brow in a thought. A fearful thought. "Wonder what those are for?"
The doors to the far left of him opened revealing the nurses and the doctors he had seen before. They all walked and surrounded the metal table he laid on. He saw their looks and they weren't friendly or caring, but sinister almost like they enjoyed the fear that was coming from him.
"W- what are you gonna do to me?" he asked in frightened voice.
"Would you like to know don't you?" one of them questioned evilly. "You will have to find out yourself... although we can assure you that you won't see another sunrise..."
"What do you mean?" His eyes became fearful and petrified.
"I just like the smell of fear... especially deep in the night!" She revealed herself as Caramel and turned to the others. "What about you girls?"
One by one the others revealed themselves from the darkness. Savanna looked at her friend with a smirk. "Ah yes, isn't it grand?" she asked, breathing in deeply.
"What should we do? Inject him with a paralysis drug, so he can 'feel' what we are going to do with him?" Cleona asked as she faced the kitten with a fanged smile. "For instance, like cutting open the top of his head?"
Moonlight turned. "Hmm, that sounds like a good idea, except the cutting open his head part. Try something a little lower," she said with an evil smile.
"I know... what if we cut open the chest..." Aisha said as she faced Shane with a smile, "And take out your heart?"
"Instead of rushing why don't we savor this?" Eleza suggested.
"Why? I can already taste the money we are going to get for getting rid of this brat. Just think of what I can buy with all that cash!"
Shane looked up. "Money? What money?" A shiver ran down his spine.
Sarafina came near. "Well I suppose we can explain that to you. You see... your foster parents promised us a great sum of money in return if we get rid of you. Our paychecks are quite low and we want a boost in our salary."
"My foster parents?" the kitten asked surprised.
"Surprising isn't it?" Sarabi added in, "Now if you just work along, we all can go away happy. As for you... well... you will be in your grave eaten by bugs."
"No!" the kitten yelled.
Sarafina faced the others. "Get him ready..." Those three words were followed with evil and cold auras as they did as commanded.
Shane began to fight them and because he couldn't move, he fought using swear words. "***** it, get away from me!"
The lioness doctor neared him with a large syringe armed with a needle that was able to pierce someone's heart. It was filled with a yellow substance. As she neared, Sarafina spoke. "Now be a nice kitty so I can administer this into your heart. I promise... it will hurt very much." Upon finishing her sentence, the adults laughed like crazy.
Shane still knew he couldn't move but wished he could. He looked on the adults angrily while wondering if there was someway he could trick them into freeing him from the straps. Seeing the needle made him tremble and he realized then that he was unable to speak as the large pointer came closer to his chest. He had to think of something otherwise... He screamed and cried while shaking his body left and right, trying to escape his death-sentence. -----
All the nurses, including Sarabi, busied themselves in the storeroom while Sarafina prepared the injections on a nearby table. She then heard screaming and crying from the other side of the room. She turned, seeing the kitten shaking like a wild beast. She stopped all progress on the needles and called out while running to him, "Girls, I need some help over here now!"
The nurses and Sarabi looked out the storeroom's entrance and ran to help their colleague.
"No! Not the big chainsaw! Get that away from me! You won't get my brain!" Shane was so heavily wrapped in his dream, that in reality, his vital signs started to go haywire. "Someone help me! They are going to kill me! PLEASE HELP!!!!"
"Is there something we can give to calm him down?" Aisha questioned while she and the others tried to get him in control.
Sarafina went back to the closet, searching with haste for something that might wake the kitten from his dream. She found what she was looking for and put it in an empty injection tube. She ran back. "Ok, all of you, continue keeping him under control while I give this to the kitten. It's a drug that will wake him."
Everyone complied with the desert lioness's orders and held the still struggling kitten down, pinning him to the bed as hard as they could while Sarafina injected the needle into his shoulder.
The kitten’s eyes snapped open and he started to breath in and out while the vital signs went back to their resumed course at a relaxed pace. His eyes were full of fear and he felt somehow paralyzed. He slowly gazed to each of the nurses and the two female doctors. Mindfully, he sighed with relief.
He wondered how long he had been crying out. Did he even remember crying out? Or thrashing? He wasn't sure and he felt he didn't want to find out.
He slowly turned his head to both the left and right seeing that on both sides... the tables with the creepy looking instruments and those bottles of liquid and syringes were gone. He turned to the center, facing the ceiling while breathing out and in repeatedly. Again, he turned his head, looking up at the adults that were at his bedside. There were no evil looks upon their mouths or in their eyes. They were the way they had been before which made him sigh deeper, being thankful.
Sarafina then lifted him up and wrapped her arms around the kitten’s back, while his head rested on her shoulder. "Shhh… it was all a dream. Relax. Nothing will happen little one. Everything will be all right. Just relax."
The kitten sighed again, his heart beating hard and breath coming in quick gasps. "Just a dream?" his mind questioned to himself. "But it was so real. Too real!" He shut his eyes. "I hope that doesn't happen again. I thought I'd never wake up." He sighed, closing his eyes all the more harder, hoping that when he slept again, this wouldn't happen. "One time is bad enough!"
The female pulled him back slightly and faced him with gentle eyes. "Is everything alright now, little guy?"
The look in the kitten's eyes, their color, was pale. He shook his head carefully and slowly, not in a 'yes' or 'no'. The remnants of the dream were still there and he wasn't sure if an answer was appropriate at the present time.
Sarafina went back to the bed where the nurses and Sarabi were and laid him there on the surface.
The kitten was on the bed trembling with fear. Although the nurses and the two doctors stood at the sides looking at him with a normal yet worried eyes, he wasn't sure over who he should believe. "What's happening? What's wrong with me? I was never like this... right?" he questioned to himself mentally. He shut his eyes again, near afraid to speak. If he slept, would the dream come back? Was there a chance he could sleep peacefully if at all? "I don't wanna sleep," he continued saying thoughtfully.
Sarabi went to her sister whispering something. Sarafina looked at her sister and back to the kitten. "Sounds like a good idea to me, "she said in reply, "but I'm not sure if the kitten wants it..."
Sarabi nodded. "I know, but it's worth a try, maybe it'll bring him some relief."
Sarafina neared the kitten slowly, hoping not to scare him. "Umm little guy... can you open your eyes for a moment? I want to ask you something."
The kitten responded by slowly opening his eyes. Though he still hurt, he was able to blink rapidly to adjust to the room's light.
"Would you like to drink something? Anything? Seeing your looks... we can tell you are very frightened... correct?" He slowly nodded his head, still afraid to speak.
Sarabi then took over. "That's why we think... that a nice drink might be good to shake that frightened feeling off of you. What do you think?"
The words spun in his mind. He couldn't do anything about this. He was thirsty. He couldn't even remember the last time he had something to drink. He nodded again.
"Well...me and my sister are going to get something yummy for you to drink. Is there something on your mind, something special you want to have?" Sarabi asked smiling. "Come on, you can tell us... right?"
"Um... I don't know," he answered honestly
Both lioness sisters looked at each other then back to him. "Okay. Well we'll just see what we can do." Sarafina turned. "Coming sis?"
"Yes," Sarabi replied and followed Sarafina.
When the two left, Moonlight turned to the others. "Well while they get his drink what shall we do in the meantime with the little cat here?" She turned to the kitten. "Looking at him it’s obvious that he's still quite frightened. We need to do something to unfrighten him."
They all looked at each other, also wondering what to do. "Hmm… what should we do?" Caramel asked. "Any ideas?"
"I know... I think," Cleona said, not sounding sure of herself.
They turned to her. "What is it?" Moonlight asked.
"I was wondering..." She turned to Shane. "Sweetheart... would you be willing to tell us about your scary dream? The one you just had?"
He heard the words and was now shaking. Questions were going through his mind and he wasn't sure if he could answer. Could he talk about it without having it reoccur? It was obvious to him that they were concerned, so what choice did he have, if he had one at all? He let out a slow shallow breath. "It… it was..." He was having a difficult time speaking. "My foster parents..." he managed to finish.
Now everyone was quite drawn to it, as they wanted to know more. "Your foster parents? I see," Cleona said, "Listen little guy... if you don't wanna tell us it's alright, we don’t mind."
Mentally, the kitten sighed with relief. He didn't want to say anything at least not yet. The dream had still shaken him. He only nodded, telling them that he understood what they were saying. Just then, he began to show signs of an itch. He slowly tried to reach his back with his hands to scratch the itch but his arms were too short. He withdrew his arms, sighing. He looked at the nurses, who were looking back at him. With a squeaky voice he asked, "Ummm... can someone scratch my back? I have an itch."
The nurses looked at each other and Moonlight came forward. "The itch is in your back?" The kitten nodded. "Okay, turn over and I'll scratch it for you," she said with a gentle smile.
He did as requested and felt her unbuttoning his gown. When she was finished, there was a moment of silence. Shane only waited, not moving an inch. After a small while, he felt gentle hands scratching his back where the itch had been. He sighed with relief.
"Thank you," he said gratefully. "The itch was bothering me."
"You're welcome little baby cat," Moonlight replied with a smile as the others around him had to giggle a bit hearing the baby words she used on him. Shane didn't even pay attention. Just then as Moonlight tended to his back, her hands went over something making Shane wince in pain for a second. "Hello... what have we here?"
The others came forward, seeing something on the kitten's back. Caramel turned. "Is that what I think it is?"
Moonlight slowly let her hands swim through the medium short fur of the kitten, examining the whole backside.
The kitten winced in pain. In a way he knew that the itch, the nurse scratching it, he knew that his injuries would be discovered. Now he wished it was over. "I can't believe I forgot about those. If they discover that... who knows what they are going to do..." he said mentally. He sighed again, closing his eyes.
The nurses exchanged worried glances, wondering how the kitten received his injuries and blue coloured bruises that were spread along his back.
"Well not just his back but it looks like his bottom received quite the thrashing too," Savanna said, touching the bottom slightly which made the kitten again wince in pain. "Look at how blue it is. It's unspeakable..."
"My question is, who could do this?" Aisha wondered, eyeing the wounds carefully.
"I don't know about you girls but this obviously is a case of mistreatment... heavy mistreatment that is," Eleza said seeing the state of the backside.
"I agree," Cleona said, nodding her head.
"Oh no… what are they going to do now?" Shane thought with a frightened mind. "Ohhh... why is it me coming in trouble? Anything could happen now." He shut his eyes again, hoping they wouldn't ask questions. He didn't want to answer them. "Please don't ask what happened, please don't ask what happened!" he said, praying mindfully.
Moonlight saw his frightening posture, knowing in her mind that he knew much more about this. As a nurse, it was her job to ask these questions but seeing him so frightened and with that dream he had, she pushed the thought away. Looking back at the damaged backside, they all knew that the treatment wasn't going to be a simple three shot injection.
"It's obvious we can't use the injection so what now?" Caramel asked.
"Does that mean... I'm done here?" Shane thought, hearing that with slight happiness entering his mind.
"Well, from the looks of these wounds, they've been around for a while," Aisha noted.
Before anyone could answer, Sarafina and her sister entered the room. She had a bottle of juice with her and laid it on the table where the ready-to-use injections were sitting. Both went to the bed with the kitten, his backside facing them and the first thing they saw, were the, injuries.
"What are those?" Sarafina asked with slight shock.
"To the looks of it... someone has heavily tackled the kitten here by seeing these wounds..." Sarabi added in seeing the signs herself. "They aren't pretty. I've seen many wounds... but this really bites the fur."
"You're right about that," Caramel replied.
Shane only felt ashamed. "It's my fault," he thought with hopelessness. "I made them angry. I should've kept my mouth shut!"
Sarafina turned back to the injections that faced Shane's back. "It's obvious that entering those into his bottom will only hurt him more. So..." She stopped her sentence and began to think what would be the best solution.
"So what do we do?" Aisha asked curiously.
"I think... we will have to resort to a full body treatment. There is no way that these signs of violence are anything normal..."
"Yeah, it's brutality," Caramel said with a slight shiver.
"If his backside is this bad... I wonder how the rest of his body is... the most important part being the front side," Eleza added in.
"I imagine it's just as bad as his back," Savanna said.
"Why is this happening to me?" Shane thought. "Why me? And what is this body treatment? Well I can't attempt to escape again. They are too smart to fall for the same trick. I guess I will have to undergo whatever it is..." The kitten shuddered with a hint of fear but the thoughts continued. He hoped that ever they wanted to do, that he had the strength to deal with it. He knew they wouldn't hurt him. He had to trust them.
Sarafina neared the kitten, stroking his head. "I know you are afraid kitty. We can read in your eyes. There is no need for us to ask."
The kitten only nodded, breathing out a sigh. "At least I don't have to talk," he thought with a bit of happiness.
"Now you know that we want to see the rest of your body... especially your front side."
He bit his tongue. "I have to trust them. If I don't..." His thoughts were clear. He slowly rolled onto his back and lifted his gown, feeling completely ashamed. He cringed.
They couldn't see the wounds completely so two of them, Eleza and Caramel, undressed him. He could feel the cold air around him lying in his naked self on the treatment table. They looked and examined, not touching the surface of his body.
As they continued looking Moonlight and Savanna noticed something on the kitten's left side. Whatever it was they saw that it sat right in the middle. It was a deep wound, almost as though something sharp had been used to make it. It was long, stretching from the mid part beginnings of his back all the way around, stopping at the beginnings of his front side. To the looks of it, it was deep and almost painful. Luckily it already had become a crust but still looked horrible.
"This is certainly a form of mistreatment. There is no doubt about that," Moonlight said, pointing to it.
"Yeah definitely," Savanna said in agreement with a head nod.
"Do you know when you got these wounds? Did you have them for a while or just recently?" Sarabi asked.
The kitten shut his eyes again. He didn't want to answer that question at all. "For a long while," he answered.
"Ok, now I have one more question. Do they itch at times?"
"Sometimes," he answered again.
Sarabi sighed, “Just great,”Everyone turned to the doctor except for Sarafina who was still examining his frontside carefully.
“What’s wrong, Sarabi?”Eleza asked. Sarabi turned to her collegue.
She smiled slightly, “Well, after hearing the answers the kitten said to us, it’s clearly that he has a body infection.”She and the others turned to the kitten, facing the damaged frontside, “And to the looks of his scars here and on his backside, it's not a small infection."
"I agree," Sarafina said with a nod. "It's rather large, given all these bruises and wounds. If they've been left untreated and it's obvious they have..."
The kitten was only getting more frightened by the moment. "What are you going to do?" he asked in a tone that matched the fear he felt.
"Considering the state your body is in…" Sarabi didn't want to tell something that would scare him out of his wits and turned to the others, hoping they knew something else instead. What she had in mind wasn't exactly nice sounding...
After a few moments of thinking Savanna's eyes brightened. "I have an idea," she said softly. The others turned to her in curiosity. She spoke again. "How about we give him a bath? Maybe that'll help." She met eyes with her colleagues, wondering if her idea sounded well to them.
"That's possible and it is the most non-painful solution."
"I agree," Moonlight said.
Sarafina turned to Savanna. "Savanna, what kind of bath did you had in mind? I suppose it’s not some ordinary bath... right?"
Savanna shook her head. "No, not just an ordinary bath. A special kind and seeing his scars and all that, an ordinary one could very well hurt him."
"There's only one kind of bath that is specially used for body treatment and dismisses the use of putting him under surgery. But I forgot what it was called. I do know we used the method on that old cat that had to be forced some time ago."
"Yes I remember that," Sarabi said. "Well I don't think this little guy will put up a fight. He seems calm and slightly relaxed now."
"Problem is... what was that method called? It had some special name to it..." Eleza added in, trying to remember it.
"You know it's been so long since even I used the method, I've even forgotten," Misti said, also trying to remember.
"Well I'm sure we'll remember later on. Let's get him situated," Caramel suggested.
Before anyone could say anything or move about, Sarabi spoke up. "Wait, I think remember the method,” she said and they all turned to her. Sarabi thought for a moment, trying to find the word in her mind. "If I'm correct, it's called a Colloidal Bath treatment."
"Yes, that's it," Eleza said with a nod. Aisha gave her own.
"Colloidal? What is that?" Shane thought with a hint of confusion. Whatever it was, there was a chance that it didn't sound good, at least to the kitten. "I can't believe I have to go through with this," he thought again. "But... they are trustworthy otherwise they would've given up on me from the start." He sighed again, his body feeling both relaxed and pained at the same time.
They all turned to him, seeing the expression on his face. Sarafina then asked, "Is something the matter?"
He looked up. "What are you gonna do?" he asked in a less frightened voice. He could hear what they were saying but he had a sense he'd feel slightly better to hear the words again.
Moonlight, who stood the closest to him, stroked his head and began to explain. "Well, we're going to give you a bath. We'll be using a special kind of method that will not harm you in any way. It's called Colloidal. What it does is non-harming. It will take care of the sores you have on your body and any other serious injuries. Don't worry okay? It's perfectly safe. You'll be fine." She smiled gently.
"Okay..." he said, still not being sure.
Sarafina then took word. "But for us to start this harmless treatment, we first will have to peel off the crusts of the wounds you have, that way so that when the Colloidal medicine is in the bathwater it can do it's effect. Really, trust me... when we start the actual treatment procedure, you will find it very soothing," she finished with a smile.
The kitten had mixed thoughts swimming in his head. Although he didn't have any objection to the bath treatment, peeling off the crusts of his wounds sounded a bit painful. He took a small sigh and faced the rest, nodding.
"Okay..." he said again.
"Since you are our patient where do you want us to start first? Your front side or back side?" Sarabi asked with a smile.
The kitten thought for a moment. Which side of him hurt more? Front or back? "Wow, tough choice," he thought again. He looked up at them again. "My... backside," he answered in a still soft voice.
"Well turn around so we can start the first step of your treatment. Otherwise we will be staying here the whole day." Sarafina and the others giggled when Sarabi stated that.
The kitten complied and slowly turned onto his stomach, wincing slightly as he did so. All the while his mind continued to spin. "I hope this is quick," he said mindfully.
With the kitten turned on his back, each of the nurses and doctors readied themselves. More and unbeknownst to the kitten, Sarafina brought over the box of the three injections, hiding it so that the kitten didn't notice. They didn't want to let him become over frightened again like last time. With everything ready, each of them handled a separated area of the kitten's back, slowly and gently started to peel off one of the thick crusts that rested on the surface of the kitten's backside.
During the treatment, Shane had his eyes closed, occasionally wondering how much his body had taken when his foster parents tormented him. Even he himself wondered how he got through it. "Guess I can call it a miracle," he said again mindfully.
They soon were done, putting all of the peeled off crusts into a small plastic basket. Then Sarafina took spoke, "Ok little one your back is done. And to us... it looks far more better then those crusts that rested on you before."
He sighed. "Good to know," he said in thought. Now he wondered when his front side would be done.
"Now, I want you to relax and not move a bit. You are gonna feel three little stings in your bottom." She had to lie, hoping the kitten would fall for it. "It's part of the whole treatment, but it will be done before you even know what happened."
The kitten gave a nod, not wanting to give more than that.
Sarafina signaled for the nurses to come, which they did. "I want you six to go talk with him about various things, while I and my sister do the injections,” she whispered to them, “If he's kept busy... it will be much easier. Right now, I can see he's very tensed."
The six nodded and went to one side of the bed, facing the kitten with gentle stares, whose head lay on the side on the pillow.
Shane opened his eyes after a while and wondered why the six nurses were facing him. "Is something wrong?" he questioned, grasping the pillow tightly with his hands.
They shook their heads. "No," Savanna said. "We're just here to talk while Sarabi and Sarafina take of your wounds," she said with a smile.
"Tell us... do you think you can tell us about your nightmare? We are very curious when it comes to that and I'm sure that it feels a lot better when you talk about it?" Eleza stated.
The kitten winced but he knew he couldn't keep that hidden. He shut his eyes for a moment then re-opened them, letting out a slow breath. "The nightmare... it was... about you all." He paused for a second and continued. "You were evil and were trying to get rid of me to please my foster parents."
The six nurses only had wide eyes with Eleza saying, "Okay..." She looked back at the two doctors sitting on chairs at the end of the treatment bed, as they had already entered the first injection. Somehow when the kitten told them, he didn't feel the first needle enter his bottom.
He saw the looks. "What?" he asked in wonder.
Moonlight looked back at him with a smile, "Nothing, we were just caught off guard. That's all. Still... that startled us."
"It scared me," he admitted with a mental shiver.
"Well we can understand that. Still... why would we try to get rid of you? What idiot would want to?"
"I know one thing alright..." Eleza said, hanging onto her sentence, "Whoever the idiot is, he or she is insane."
"The idiot you speak of or idiots are my foster parents," he replied.
"Can you tell us more about them? Or is that something you want to keep for yourself?" Cleona questioned kindly.
"I’d rather not tell... it's very hard for me. Even harder then that dream I had."
Cleona nodded, as did the others. "Little kitty, you don't need worry about such things. I already can tell you one thing. Whatever the reason was, the reason why we should even consider getting rid of you... well trust us, we would never do such a thing."
He only nodded. In the back of his mind, he knew they were right. It made him feel a little better than he had a while ago.
"Really, and sorry if I'm asking this... what was the reason that made us want to so-called kill you?" Cleona scratched her head a bit in shame for asking so many questions.
Shane noticed this and smiled mindfully. He knew why. They were curious and since he was a patient... "My foster parents were planning to be rid of me. How you fitted in? I'm not too sure," he answered. After a few seconds he did remember and spoke again. "Oh wait now I know... you all did it for a big sum of money."
The nurses were surprised as were the two doctors who already finished entering the second injection.
"Money huh?" Savanna said in surprise.
"Is that all? Trying to get rid of you just so we got a big sum of money?" Moonlight questioned. She turned to the two doctors with a sly smile, "Well, I wouldn't mind getting some extra cash, for we nurses get less then doctors get." Sarabi only shook her head slowly in an amusing way as she faced Moonlight, who then turned, facing Shane. "But I would never join in such a thing, even if I got extra cash."
"That goes for me as well," Aisha said in agreement.
“We can promise you fully that when your foster parents ever tried to do that to you, they would first have to go through us. It’s something we would never allow. Heck, the Mayor of this city would put everything on everything to make sure that never happens."
"Don't worry, you’re safe," Caramel said.
Inwardly the kitten sighed with relief. "Uh, what else do you wanna know?" he asked.
"Isn't there anything you want tell us? Anything?" Eleza questioned in reply, stroking the back of his head.
A part of him was unsure. "Um... well... no, not at the moment," he said with slight hesitation.
"There must be something right? Mostly you young kids always have some nice things to tell. Heck, in the Elderly division we have this old cat. When he starts to tell something from younger years while under a treatment, he keeps blabbing," Savanna replied with a giggle.
"There's not really much to tell. My parents died when I was very young. After that I became a foster child."
That was something the nurses, including the doctors at his bed end, didn't expect to hear. They exchanged glances and were silent for a moment.
"We're sorry to hear that..." Moonlight said with a soft tone, stroking his head.
"Yeah, deeply sorry," Caramel said in the same tone.
"It's not your fault..." Shane replied, doing his utter best to keep his emotions under control in which he succeeded.
Eleza looked from the kitten and up to Sarafina and Sarabi. She thoughtfully wondered if they were finished with the injections. The look on her face was questioning. Cleona and Savanna were thinking the same. Sarafina saw this and smiled, giving a single nod as she laid down the third and final injection near the table next to the kitten. The six nurses nodded, turning their attention back to him.
"Say little one... I think I have some good news for you. Wanna know what?" Moonlight said teasingly.
"What?" he asked.
"Remember those scary looking needles you were afraid of? Well while you were talking with us... doctors Sarafina and Sarabi entered them into your bottom."
Hearing this, Shane was overtaken by surprise. "What? How come I didn't feel them?" he asked in shock.
"Because you were so distracted in your talk with the nurses," Sarabi answered, coming over to the sides of the bed and facing the kitten with a smile. "Was that so scary?"
The kitten furrowed his brow in thought. "No," he answered.
Then Sarafina came over as the nurses replaced themselves behind the doctors. "You know what I think? I think you deserve a small break from here on." She turned, giving a look to all others. "What do you girls think?"
"Yeah he could use one," Moonlight said. The others agreed, giving their own answers to the question.
Sarafina took the plastic bought bottle of orange juice from the table behind her. She then on turned him gently back on his backside, revealing his naked front side and gave the bottle to the kitten who had taken it with delight.
The nurses all looked on the kitten's front side with mixed expressions. Misti shook her head. "Who could hurt a precious little thing like him?" she asked softly.
Before the kitten used his teeth to pull the cap forward and drink, he sighed. "My foster parents."
"What?" Savanna asked.
He looked at them while drinking his sweet fruity liquid. He stopped a bit and spoke. "No really. You all think I would harm myself?"
"No," Eleza replied. "But why would they do that?"
"It's been going on for two years..."
"Two years?" Caramel questioned in surprise. She wondered how someone, especially someone so young as he could handle abuse for so long.
Shane saw her questioning stare, "I held to the fact that a day would come and release me from their torment."
"What was that?" Cleona asked, carefully.
"Nothing really... It was something that enabled me to withstand their treating."
Cleona only nodded, looking back to the others and Shane spoke again.
"Last night... I ran away and managed to gain a late and free trip to Pride Rock City. I had the feeling that I couldn't stay there any longer."
"So that's how you ended up here?" Aisha questioned after a thought.
"I guess so... although I don't know how I ended up here. Last thing I remember was that I was in an alley." Sarafina and Sarabi had to smile a bit hearing that. He saw the looks of the two doctors. "What?" he asked.
"We were the ones who brought you here darling. When we found you sleeping on an old carton, we didn't think twice about taking you with us. More, you don't think we would leave you there, all by yourself did you?" Sarafina said with a smile.
"Adding to that, we felt your head back when we found you, seeing that it was warm. You were getting the flu which gave us more reason to take you," Sarabi added in.
Shane allowed all of this to mix in his head. He thought it through very carefully all the while still thinking. "Oh," he said, feeling unable to say anything else. He then asked a question, "When my treatment is done and everything... what is going to happen next? I don't wanna go back to them, to my foster parents. If that happens, all of my efforts to escape their claws will be in vain. Please, I don't wanna go back.” His voice was near pleading.
The adults exchanged glances for a moment.
Sarafina then answered with a kind tone, "Don't worry... we won't. For now you will stay safe in the hospital while we try to think up a solution."
The kitten didn't say anything; he only nodded.
"Now let's start working on the front side of your little body so we can put you in your bath treatment soon after."
Shane nodded again, biting his lip while doing so. "Okay," he said.
Soon enough, just like his backside, they were done with his front side, putting the peeled off crusts into the same basket. Although they were removed gently, he still itched. They didn't think twice and gently lifted him, putting him on the other bed. The nurses and doctors drove the bed out of the treatment room and into the hallway going to the shower room.
"So I'll be getting a bath?" the kitten asked.
Again Moonlight, who walked at the left side of the bed where he lay, answered his question while facing him. "Yes, an innocent yet healthy bath. You don't find that scary... right?"
"No," he responded with a small smile.
"Good kitty," she finished by stroking his head a bit.
Shane smiled again; feeling a bit more relaxed than he had before.
On their way, Whitecross walked towards them, having a bag of ice on his head, which made the nurses and the doctors’ laugh. Shane smiled a bit as well. Whitecross, who felt a bit embarrassed by the girls, smiled and went to them. Once in range, he took a look at the kitten. "So you must be the little trouble maker correct?" he asked with a smile. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna bite you."
"I know," the kitten replied.
"He's been very brave during his treatment," Sarafina said stroking his head lovingly. "Right girls?"
The nurses all nodded, turning to the white tiger with smiles. "Yes he has," Aisha said.
"Well that's good to hear," Whitecross replied. He came closer to the kitten, whispering in his ear. "You are really lucky you know that? Being treated by not one, two, but eight gorgeous female medical professionals." He withdrew himself and gave a wink.
"Okay Whitecross, that's enough," Sarabi said, hitting the tiger playfully in the shoulder.
"Hey, how did you know what I said?” the white tiger asked in surprise.
"I have good hearing."
He sighed, "Never mind." He looked at the others, "Well good luck with him. I'm sure he won't be too hard. Well I at least I wouldn't." He gazed at Caramel, "Right Caramel?"
"Don't worry Whitecross," she replied.
He smiled, "Ok then, I will be going. One of my own patients is waiting for me. Better not keep her waiting." Whitecross then turned to the kitten. "And you... have fun." He stroked his head again and soon went on his way.
Caramel smiled embarrassingly
Savanna turned to her friend. "What was that about?" she asked in a whisper.
"Nothing..." Caramel tried to hide, but her friends knew better.
"Oooohh...Caramel has something with the young high ranking doctor Whitecross!" Cleona said teasingly and with a giggle.
"Come on Caramel, we know you too well," Eleza said.
Caramel sighed with a smile, "Ok, ok, he and I have... well... you know."
The three nurses looked on each other with amazed expressions. "You're kidding right?" Savanna asked.
“No I'm not..."
"Well, well, well..." Cleona said with a smirk.
"Ok girls, that's enough. Save your love tales for later. We got bring the little guy here to the shower room and give him a bath."
"Alright let's take care of this little fellow," Moonlight said.
"Sounds good," Aisha said in agreement.
With that in mind, they resumed their pace towards the shower room located on the first floor. They went towards the elevator with Savanna pressing the down button. When the doors opened they wheeled the bed inside with Savanna pressing another button that would take them to the first floor. The doors opened again and they wheeled the bed to the shower room. The moment they entered, Shane saw the following surroundings. The room itself was big and large, having ten plastic covered beds, each bed armed with eight belts, needed if the patient tried to fight him or herself out of it. Next to each bed, rested a showering device and a small table with various shampoos and other bath liquids.
At first he thought they were going to put him there, but in his mind he sighed in happiness as they drove the bed past those beds, which rested, at the sides of the walls. They stationed the bed near a space where large bathtubs rested on the ground. Each of them were big enough to hold a kitten like himself, and like the beds nearby, he also saw a table with various bath liquids and materials.
The girls trusted him enough as they left him alone lying on the bed while they were going to ready one of the bathtubs, which was the fourth one of the six, his bed stood next. His eyes noticed six small nursery chambers, each with their own stuff that was used for babies. But looking harder, he saw the nurseries were equipped so they could be used on cubs and kitties his age.
"These are for kids," he thought, looking about.
Seeing that his bed was close by those nurseries, he could also see that the stuff that was used when being put into such a nursery. On the ledge that was constructed near the small bed or better said – changing table – he saw other things: towels, diapers, patient gowns, paper shoes, robes and many other things.
"Well, they are well prepared," he thought again, gazing.
He grew startled as Eleza went over to his bed, to the backside and started to drive it near the bathtub, the bathtub that was being readied for him. "So this is for me," he asked the white lioness.
Eleza came over to him while the others readied the bath. "Yes this is for you dear. Does it look creepy to you?"
The kitten shook his head. "No," he answered.
After some minutes waiting, the bath was ready. Filled with the Colloidal and the water being at a non-hurting heat level, the nurses and the doctors went over to the kitten, who was lying on the bed and with ease they carried him to the bathtub.
Slowly and at a steady pace, Shane felt himself be lowered into the bath's water with the medicine, at the first touch, stinging his backside a little. He winced slightly, feeling the water rush over him and the medicine start its work. It did hurt a tad but it was also soothing. He sighed with some relaxation.
With that done, the medical personnel started to bathe his body. He didn't move an inch, just facing the white ceiling above him. A thought played in his head, "This is the first time I’ve had a bath in two whole years." In his mind, he chuckled, unaware that the chuckle escaped his throat, which the personnel noticed.
"Oh, look girls... I think he's liking the bath treatment, just like Whitecross said he would." Everyone giggled a bit, embarrassing him in the process.
"Sorry," the kitten said. "I... I haven't had a bath in two years."
This news came hard to the nurses and the two doctors. Somehow they recovered from the shock and Sarafina spoke. "Really?" she asked, trying not to show her surprise, which she near failed in.
"No wonder those crusts were itching you so much." Sarabi sighed, "But look at the bright side, you are not only getting a special bath treatment but also at the same time, you are getting cleaned and refreshed completely."
Shane nodded his head. "Yes, that's true. Thank you," he said with a smile.
"You know... although we are all treating you right now, we still don't know your name. Do you wanna tell us or not? Might be a bit easier for us."
The kitten lowered his ears in thinking. After everything they did for him it was only fair to tell them his name. "Shane," he answered.
"Oh Shane is it? Well... that's a unique name and it sounds quite nice and yet easy to remember. It’s far easier then that name of the old cat we used to treat... such a long and difficult name it was too."
"Yes it is. You know, funny thing, I can't even remember his name," Sarafina said with a chuckle.
"Wait let me think...ummm… oh yes." Eleza then spoke out the name, "Arrubanitagaranda.” The rest of the girls only got a headache thinking about that name.
"Thanks Eleza," Aisha said in irritation. "Now we're gonna have headaches." She put a hand to her head. "I think I'm getting one now."
Shane only had to giggle slightly. "That's a funny name," he said in a small laugh.
"For once... I agree with you. Miss Moonlight always called him... Arubi for short," Aisha noted.
"Which is better I might add," said the black lioness.
Time passed quickly and soon Shane was done with his bath. He was laid on the bed's surface after being dried. Although the open and non-bleeding wounds were open, they didn't itch and that made Shane more happy from the inside. He was driven to one of the nurseries, causing a thought to enter his mind. "Nursery? Why am I being taken there?"
They rolled the bed next to the changing table and in a matter of moments they carried and laid him on the plastic surface. "Okay, this is odd," he thought again.
As for Sarafina and Sarabi, their beepers went off signaling that they were needed somewhere else. Sarafina sighed. "Must be Whitecross. No doubt, he's having some trouble with his patient."
Sarabi only giggled. "That's no surprise," she said in a laugh.
Sarafina turned to the six nurses tending to the little cat. "You six can handle Shane right? Me and my sis have to go to the second floor and help Whitecross."
Moonlight turned, nodding her head. "Yeah sure," she said in reply.
The female doctor then neared the kitten, who was confused. "Well, it seems me and my sister have to go. We will come back later in the day to check upon you. For now... you be good... deal?"
The kitten mentally thought what she said over in his head. He smiled. "I will be," he said.
She stroked his head for a bit and soon left the company with her sister, leaving Shane in the hands of the six nurses.
Shane lay there on his back upon the changing table while the six nurses readied the stuff nearby. Although he didn't find this scary he did find it immensely embarrassing.
"Um, is this really needed?" he asked.
Moonlight turned to him, stroking his head. "I'm afraid so sweetie."
The kitten sighed. "Okay," he said. Then unexpectedly he was turned around onto his belly, revealing his backside. Before he could ask anything several hands massaged his back. Although he tried to resist, the massage made him relax. "It does feel good," he thought to himself.
Next, he was turned onto his back again and they lifted his legs holding them in a tight position. Eleza laid the fold out diaper under his bottom, which was completed with a soft bandage like material that laid on the surface. Then the next thing embarrassed Shane so much that he got red cheeks. He was being powdered.
"This is weird," he thought again.
At last, his legs were laid into a spilt and stretched position making space for the front side of the diaper. It was fastened around his waist with four blue tapes.
"Well this should be pleasant," he continued thinking, feeling his face flush slightly with embarrassment.
"Don't worry, you won't be in the diaper for long," Aisha said to the kitten gently.
"It's just... let's see... two to three days or a week you will be in the diaper. Besides you're not the only one around here with one around your waist," Eleza added in. "There are many others... even old grown ups who wear them.”
The kitten looked up. "Really?" he asked in amaze.
"Really," Moonlight said stroking his head. "Besides... we think you look immensely cute now. “
"I do feel better," he admitted.
"Well then cutie cat, lift yourself up so we can put a new gown on you and put you back in bed," Moonlight replied. She signaled one of them to take a new gown from nearby. Doing as told, the kitten sat up, raising his arms into the air. Cleona came over with a new gown and handed it to Moonlight who took it and placed it over the kitten's head, gently sticking his arms through the sleeves, and allow the ends of it to come at rest around his tiny body. The others buttoned the gown from behind. Shane was lifted up single handedly by Moonlight into her arms and placed back on the bed, the others putting the blanket until his shoulders.
"Thank you," he said politely.
"No thanks needed sweetie. Now come on, let me bring you back to the room you were in before all this happened." She turned to the others. "Can you girls handle the mess around here while I bring back this little kitty back?"
They all nodded. "Sure Moonlight," Savanna said.
With that answer Moonlight went behind the bed and began to push it, rolling it away. Shane slightly turned around, giving his byes to the others who returned the favor. He turned back and faced the ceiling, feeling so calm and relaxed...
"I feel better now than I did when I first arrived," he said to himself mindfully. He faced Moonlight who was busy rolling the bed. However she turned to him, smiling.
"You've been a good cat Shane. I will be sure to tell that to my sisters in law."
"Sisters in law?" he asked curiously.
"Oh didn't you know that? You know miss Sarabi and Sarafina right?"
"Yes, the two doctors," he confirmed with a nodded head.
"Well they are my sisters in law. My brother is married to one of them and he is the Mayor of Pride Rock City."
"Wow!" he said softly.
"Oh that's not all sweetie. Aisha, the nurse from before is also my sister in law for I'm married to her big brother who leads a big company."
"So, you're all related?" he questioned kindly.
"Well not all of us. For example Miss Eleza, Caramel, Savanna, and Cleona."
"Must be nice working in the same place."
"Yes it is. So what do you think about the things that happened?"
He thought for a moment. "Well, I feel better than before."
"Well that's good to hear darling."
They arrived at the room Shane was before, before he was brought to the treatment room and the events that took place afterward. Moonlight locked the bed back into the floor slots.
"So, what happens now?" he asked curiously.
Moonlight turned to him. "Well, right now, you need your rest. As Sarafina said, she and Sarabi will return to check on you." Shane nodded his head and settled down underneath the blankets. Within a few seconds, he was asleep.
She gave him a kiss on the head and made her way out of the room, closing the door.
