"Nauvoo," is the name of a city in Illinois. But, I like the meaning and decided to make it into a fiction.
Nauvoo means "beautiful place," and is the reflection of Paradise in this story.
First paragraph preview:
She paced the lobby of the small-town hospital, wondering what had went wrong. She sighed, looking around with light brown, pain-filled eyes. Her eyes rested on a doctor in a light blue coat.
“Sir, can I ask you something?” She called out to him, quickly making her way to him. “My son, Brent Blackhawk, came to this hospital a little over an hour ago with critical injuries. Is he all right?”
The doctor, a young man no older than twenty-five, looked a little concerned. His blue eyes contrasted his black hair and lightly tanned skin. He looked at an enclosed room, then back at the woman. “Miss,” he said in a low voice. “Will you come with me?” He unlocked the room, opening the door for her. “Ma’am,” he began. Now his eyes wouldn’t meet hers.
She knew something was wrong. “Is he all right?” She wrung her hands together, toying softly with her wedding ring. “Will I be able to bring him home?”
The young man ran a hand through his hair. “No, you won’t be able to. He’s gone, Miss. His injuries were too severe, there was no saving him.”
Her eyes grew wide. “You mean he’s dead?” Tears ran from her eyes, as if without boundary. The doctor nodded. “I’m sorry,” he said to her. He stood, reaching for her shoulder. But, she jumped to her feet and smacked his hand away, tilting her chin up.
She didn’t say anything as she walked out the door, sobbing.
I'm pretty sure that you can all guess who this is about, if you know anything of my favorite character's history. It's all about Kirada, and the deaths inflicted in her past. I hope I finish it in a decent matter of time (before I get lazy and start another project). Plus, I hope you all enjoy. I might post other previews later.
