This is something that has been bothering me for quite a while now.
What's the site about? Balto.
What's the site's purpose? Balto.
There are many people here who come for the sake of Balto. Now, I personally feel that you do not have to have the Balto 1 section as your most active board, or otherwise it wouldn't be much fun. Just so long as you take an active interest in Balto, than this is your kind of site.
But more and more often, I'm seeing people here whom of which do not have an interest in Balto at all. I'm not going to point fingers at anyone, but it seems that all they come here for is to post in the Other Sections or roleplay. It's quite obvious that they have not read the rules (Two words: Mate Talk) and I hardly ever or never see them talk about Balto at all. It's all 'I need a mate!' 'They stole my art!' 'It's not fair!' 'They banned my friend, those big meanies!' etc.
Frankly, I'm getting quite tired of it, and I wonder if these people have actually SEEN Balto. It's fine to roleplay, talk about The Lion King and all that jazz. But when I saw the poll about the petition, and I saw the 12% that voted 'I don't care,' I thought, 'Who are these people? How could they vote that and still come on the site?' How could they call themselves 'true' fans?'

Please, if you don't come here for Balto, just don't come at all. If all you want to do is roleplay, talk about your mates, and not give a fig about Balto, than there are much better sites out there.

I have to agree, and I'm glad you pointed this out.

There are so many people joining for the sake of joining. "Mates" is one of the problams. 50% Of newb profiles are full of, "I have no mate but I'm looking!" And the other half fill the page with art of google saying it's thier mate

Others join for other things, like the rp box and the shout box. But the worst thing, is that members join just to spam the site, or moan about real life problams. If you look though this very board, half the rants locked are by people ranting on about matters that don't even concern Balto/Lion king/The sites.

It's really annoying to see people who have joined who have written things like how much they hate all three Balto movies, and how much they hate animals but love cars.

People really need to start respecting the site and it's purpose.

EDIT: I forgot to add this. I don't mean anyone needs to talk about Balto 24/7. But as long as you like the movie at least. I don't see the point of joining is you hate Balto.

You have a right to be on this site if you don't know Balto, since the rule says 'or TLK'. The usage of 'or' is crucial here: it means you don't have to be a fan of Balto and TLK if you want to come on the site to talk about TLK, but being fan of one of the two suffices.
You can't argue with the rules.

I agree with you on being annoyed with mates and people who don't really care,but I'm sure I've voted in that category before to. Why? Well after being here for a year or so Balto loses interest to me.

I'm not the only one who thinks so. Why do you think cat on youtube posted a video called "I'm really sick of balto" and Tibby told me shes bored here now. It happens. Thats why the other section comes useful,as well as roleplay box and forums. It gives people a break from the wolf-dog thats sucked everyone here,because sure,the real balto was great and the cartoon is cool,but people are entitled to lose interest.

Now,thats not an excuse to post topics about have you seen my mate,wanna roleplay,i love you mate-poo! etc,etc. With every site comes rules, which sometimes but not often get followed by new-comers or hard headed folk. Its society honestly and I can't really tell you anything except when this gets to much take a break from the site. No one is forcing you to watch it happen and with any problem there comes solutions.

People from here are old members, old members which basically lost the fandom spirit for that cartoon. I mean you can't be a fan of something till neverend. XP Yes yes I know people say "fan till death!!" but I will hafta brake yer motto, cause these obsessions/fandoms are just temporal.
Yeah blame me but I was telling the truth, I personally, was through this. And I know how stuff are going.

Well as it seems this site will turn into a worldwide stuff talked subjects. (all boards active rather than the balto ones.)
I always had a feeling that the lines might get crossed (as eg fan arts and fan videos, people aren't sending only Balto fan arts they are sending OWN CREATIONS or other stuff too. )
It's not hard to realise that Balto source is turning into a wolf general board?

Sorry if I sounded harsh or anything, but it's something I've realised not today, not yesterday... MONTHS ago.

Deni has a point; people come for the Balto (or TLK, I can't stress it enough), but they stay for the more general topics and the fan-based work (fiction, artwork,...). The reason is simple: fan-based work and general topics evolve, whereas for the other stuff you inevitably come to a point where everything has been discussed (hence the often repeating topics genre who fathered who etc...) since no new elements surface (exception: as new movies).

Personally, I like the music from Balto more then the movie it's self. I was a hugely avid fan a couple years ago, but kinda drifted off in time.

On the same issue you've brought up, I go to a weekly chat on IRC for a now, kinda backwoods fandom group called The Balto League, 97% of the topics there....don't deal with Balto, it's more of a place to get together, hang out and have a good time.

Like most sites based around something that is approx. over six years old since the last 'release' or official 'update', topics tend to drift away from the general focus of the site itself over time. I've seen it many times, it's not going to change too quickly

I'll post in the Balto boards again when there's something for me to post about. XD
I do like them still and often read them but seldom post anymore, I just repeat myself most of the time.

I think BS has also become an unwitting victim of the recent "wolf fandom" that has been plaguing DA. It's now "LYK OMG!!! A WOLF!!! *fav fav fav*" there and BS seems have slipped that way too, now it's all "I made a new wolf char!!!11!!!!1!!", "I love wolves!!!", "Come see my WOLF ART!!!11!!", it's a shame that they see wolves as a fan-object, a way to become popular, rather than a beautiful animal that deserves to be understood and although Balto did have many wolves and wolf references it also had more huskies and husky references and I don't know about anyone else but I've been seeing less and less husky Fan creations around here.

As for that "mate" stuff, they're welcome to it as long as they keep it private, I personally find it kinda creepy unless it's in an RP, when people start going "This is my mate, I love them, I want to be with them forever!!11!!!!!", kinda freaks me out. 0.o

I guess that's alright, because you've seen the Balto films and like them, and you don't come here solely for TLK.

im glad you made this rant. why they join the site in the first place, i dont know, as it is widely shown all over the site(including web adress) that this site is all about balto.
