Ok the title might not mean much but i just want the oppinion of other rider and horse owners out there as this question has been getting on my nerves for quite a while now.

I have a Exmoor pony, called Krizma but his papers say he is a pure bred Exmoor yet i say different. It is also hard to tell because he came stright off the moors so there is not trace of the mare and stallion. So what i want help from you ism Do you think he is pure Exmoor or has another breed in him? If You think he had another breed in him, what breed? But keep in mind he did come off the moors from the wild and now to me.

Click on this link and it will show you what a true Exmoor pony looks like.

I know what a Pure bred looks like, but to put it through, A Exmoor and a Dartmoor are a similar breed to each other, there isn't much of a differents other than an Exmoor is slightly taller that the Dartmoor. I would likily agree 99% of your oppinion SS, but his papers do say he is pure bred from a horse breed, which i do not believe. Thank you for your option and i do agree in someway to your answer

As i said "he came stright off the moors" Which means he had came from the wild as a colt and then to me. So yes he is a wild pony, well was a wild pony. And he will always have that wild spirit in him.

I'd have to agree with Splash. He looks like A Dartmoor/Exmoor Mix.

I understand where some people can get that from, but that is highly unlikely.
A donkey is a very hardy animal. Many breeds of horses and ponies seem to look like donkeys, but they're pure horse. Breeds of such type are of very rugged places that only the toughest can survive. The earliest horses are believed to look that way. Many of these places rugged places where primitive horses live are very remote so they received little outside blood so the horses and ponies stayed the way they for thousands and thousands of years. Breeds like the Exmoor pony, the Mongolian Wild horse and numerous others are such breeds.

Now back to the real question.
She looks pure Exmoor to me, but I know little about Exmoors. I'd say that it's really hard-telling what's in that pony. I read in a book, that in order to refine the ponies, they let horses out on the moors. The pony you have might have a hint of the slightly refined ponies in her, but she looks a ton like those Exmoor ponies I've seen in photos.
