Alot of people say ADGTH is better than Balto. I think that is really strange, no offense to ADGTH lovers. So, my question is, what series do you like more and why? Also, why don't you like the other series/ My answer is Balto series. Much better story, less singing and better characters. I watch them alot, but I only watch ADGTH movies when I am really board.

Well, I have hardly watched the original ADGTH movie, and haven't really seen any of its sequels. I don't think it'd be possible for me to like it any better than Balto though.

I love both; I'm a somewhat bigger fan of ADGTH, I think, but Balto is amazing too. The first Balto movie, that is; the sequels... I can for the most part take 'em or leave 'em. I love the two ADGTH movies. The TV series they made out of it is not so good, in my opinion--just like every other cartoon series, not true to the films, pretty silly, etc. I only watch as much as I can of it because it IS All Dogs, and has my beloved characters. It's not completely awful, no, there are episodes and parts of it that I really like. But I can't possibly compare it with the movies and I don't necessarily include it when I say "ADGTH."

One thing that I don't like about ADGTH is that it takes place in the city. Balto takes place in a setting way less populated and modern than a city.

A better poll would be between Balto and The Fox and the Hound. Those movies are more similar than Balto and ADGTH. DakotaWereWolf wrote: With ADGTH, I had a lot of favorites and I don't mind for a fact that they break into song I like the settin', New Orleans and how the background would've looked like in the late 1930s. I hated the setting. New Orleans in 1930. Same with Oliver and Company: too urban! [quote="DakotaWereWolf"]Okay, I happen to like movies that end on a sad note (I don't know why o_O) so when ADGTH ended with Charlie goin' to Heaven but then at the same time makin' it funny with his endin' note "He'll be back", I laughed and cried hysterically/quote] I hate when movies have humor during a vital moment. Seriously, it ruins the moment!

If I had to babysit a kid (which gives me an excuse to watch these films ) and had a choice to show ADGTH or Balto, I would choose ADGTH. 1. Story: The story develops and the characters change. Dynamic story lines are nice to have because they keep you engaged. 2. Acting: The voice acting is way better. Burt Reynolds (Charlie really does sell that cool, smooth, con artist character. In fact, all the actors did a swell job. The voice acting in Balto is good but only so-and-so. 3. Songs: Normally, I don't care for songs in family toons because they can be rather sappy. But I don't minds the songs all that much in ADGTH because they're done in a very Broadway style. When I mean Broadway style, the actor does actually sing, but the singing is almost like speaking. It's hard to describe. Anyway, the songs are well composed. 4. Heavy: Balto is deep, especially with that casket scene, and fight scene with Steele but that's about as heavy as it gets. ADGTH pulls no punches. You got gambling, alcohol, thugs, guns, murder, stealing, the list goes on. But to make it heavier, you have that Heaven & Hell thing going on. That's what I love about ADGTH, it keeps it real.

Togo wrote: DakotaWereWolf wrote: The story. Though Balto is based on a true event, Balto wasn't really the huge hero. Sure he did bring the medicine home in real life but Togo (who traveled farther distance) should've been included on it since he did travel farther than Balto's team did. I mean, I love the bear and wolf scenes... but that's it. The fact that it's based on a true story is better than nothing, isn't it? That shouldn't matter. It never mattered to me that Balto was based on a true story. Not that I don't care that people suffered and the real Balto (and Togo!) went through a lot, but I don't give a crap about it in relation to the movie. Just because Togo was the major hero in the real story doesn't mean that the Balto movie isn't touching, doesn't have a good plot, isn't animated well, and doesn't have good music. Heck, if the name character was named Rhoaka or something and the setting was a fictional place in 1890, I doubt I'd like it any more or less, as long as it was the same movie otherwise. It's irksome when someone calls historical inaccuracy a flaw. It's a movie, not a documentary. Not trying to attack you, Dakota. Sorry if it sounds like I am

Togo, ADGTH is actually a film by Don Bluth. If I had to choose between the two, I'd say Balto. It's just such an inspirational and powerful film. Whilst ADGTH has 'adult' themes such as smoking, drinking, drugs etc, I'd Balto is more mature because it deals with life more realistically, and the characters do not sing. ADGTH had too many songs - a somewhat deep flaw in an otherwise enjoyable film. Also, the Balto sequels were more interesting than the dire All Dogs go to Heaven 2.

Quote: You should also consider that Balto was made by Universal while ADGTH was made by Disney which is the one who made the "classic" and old cartoons. Whaaaaat? I can't believe you made that mistake ADGTH is not Disney, and the studio which did it is actually closer to Amblin : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sullivan_Bluth_StudiosAnyway, I like ADGTH pretty much, although it's like comparing apples and carrots : they have no relation to me, except for the fact that there are dogs in it.

Hmm... accidental duplicate post. steet wrote: Anyway, I like ADGTH pretty much, although it's like comparing apples and carrots : they have no relation to me, except for the fact that there are dogs in it. Apples and carrots are both food. One can easily say that they like carrots better than apples because they like veggies better than fruits. Same as saying you enjoy films that take place in a less urban environment (Balto) than ones that take place in a city (ADGTH).

The only reason there's no character change in Balto is because the protagonist wasn't a bad guy to begin with.
Sorry, had to post something. I can't believe nobody posted here for an entire day.
