Okay, stupid title, I'm aware, and it has nothing to do with what I am going to rant about, but... just imagine an appropriate title ^^

So, let's take it that you've just gotten home from an exhausting day at school/work, and you log on BaltoSource, and the first thing you see is "You have 1 new private message".
Yay! Somebody has PM'd me!
Then you go into that inbox and open up the PM, and what's the thing that bursts into your face?
"c'mon pl0x plz be my m*te"

This is so annoying! Not only is it against the rules, but we moderators can't do anything about it (except if we are the ones recieving those PM's), because there are no "Report" button in the PM system. And that's also not just the only problem, but I know a lot of harassing happens via PM's, and we moderators have no power to stop it.
If the one harassing gets ignored by the victim, he/she will find another person to harass and so on.

Both of these are extremely annoying, and after a long, exhausting day, it might make you lose your temper entirely, and send a response to the person, which would make the hairs of even my back go stiff.

I know this might be a stupid, little-detailed, and a short rant, but nonetheless I figured I wanted to post it (I've had experienced recieving these PM's myself, actually).

We also have these "my friend got banned *sad**sad*" topics.
These are very annoying, because it makes our job harder (we do sometimes fear that we should ban the "wrong" person, and the entire community will start a war because of it), it takes up space on the forums which could be used for something else, and it is embarrassing for the one who posted the thread, since the moderators always ban as a last resort, and because the creator of the thread is slowing the moderators down when we have to explain it to you with the tiny spoon.

I know this has happened before my time, and I know it will never stop happening. But for goodness' sake, please don't create these kind of topic until you are 100% sure about why your friend got banned in the first place.

I'm not ranting about this to hit you posters below the waist (in case some of you felt like that reading this), nor have I written this second rant to be mean to you. I just want to state that it is time-consuming to explain it to you, so it slows us down, and that you should allow us to do our jobs.

they acually asked to be their mate, even with you being a MOD? I have always thought of it to be a little strange to be in a relasonship like that with somebody you dont really know, but a MOD? Are they ASKING to be banned?

I wouldn't exactly call them artards... if they had known I was a mod in the first place, I wouldn't even have known about mates talk in PM's.

Lately, 4/5th of the PMs I've received are asking if I have a mate, want to be their mate, or want to be a mate of their friends. I find it more funny then annoying to be honest, it gives me a good laugh at how pathetic they are. Get off the computer and get a real life...LOL

I've received PM's similar to the one you got,but rather than PMing a Mod about them,I did the other good thing,I deleted them.

I just tell them the truth, that I have a girlfriend in real life, that's only a year older then me. After that, I never hear anything from them again. Lol

I agree Wolflux. When will people learn that mates are not allowed. And why were they typing in SMS? I wonder if these people have ever actually seen Balto, or just go onto the site for the roleplaying section.
And the whole 'Why was my friend banned?' topics? I've seen plenty of those around here. And I have an answer to all of those topics - because it was the mod's choice. They don't ban people for the fun of it. If they feel that you've done something inappropriate, I feel that they do have a right to ban someone, if the offender ignored all the warnings.

People are really pathetic. I cannot STAND people PM'ing me and saying "Do you have a mate?" or "Will you be my mate plz?" It's crazy. I sometimes reply to them, but half the time I just hit the delete button. They can think I am rude all they want, but they're the ones with no like tramping around asking people they don't know if they'll be their mate.

I know Yupik has this constant issue. This one guy got real... up in her face about it all too. Saying how he "loved her so much". Even though they had just met. O_x He acted as if he'd die if she wasn't his mate. At this point I want to just say "I have some advice for you... Click your heals three times and say "I wish I had a Life"."

Another thing I find annoying, is how people try to "cleverly" disguise the word "mate". I've seen just about everything. "M*te", "M8", and even "Monkey". As if someone wouldn't catch on... Honestly now.

I agree completely. This is extremely annoying. And it's not only happened through pm's! There's even people on the SB who post stuff like 'I need a mate '. UGH. It is soooo annoying. Why do people NEED mates? Why do they WANT to be mates with soneone they've never even met?! And what ticks me off even more is when people feel sorry for them and accept to be their mates. Honestly. It's absoloutely ridiculous. It's just attention and popularity-seeking.

And people who compalin about their friends being banned is also ridiculous. Just because they're your friends doesn't mean they can't get banned. >.>

The mate talk thing is really a big problem. I've gotten one where the person wanted me to be their mate and asked if I was a guy even though Cobalt generally is a feminine-ish name. Ugh.

Luckily, that was a fair while ago, and I haven't gotten any like that for quite some time. although that may be due to my absence from the ShoutBox (bad internet connection, you know).

Personally, it's never happened to me. Maybe I'm not attractive. *fake tear* Oh weel. :B

However, yes, it is annoying. Exspecially when the users think they can get around the "no mate talks" rule by calling it a "you know what!"

Seriously, do these kids think we're so stupid we won't know what a "you know what is" while that person is cuddling "their mate?" Do we honestly appear so illiterate?

It's a pestilence for me, and I think the "you-know-what" rule should be heightened, for anyone caught talking about it, they get one warning and then a two-day ban the second time. And, if it happens again, traditionally, the ban will be hightened. Aye?

Personally, I don't see the point of falling in love with someone's illusion. I mean, seriously. This is the situation:

How stupid can todays society get? To be rather honest, the parents will see their child with a you-know-what. What's the first thing they do? Who do they blame? The site and it's staff. Tell me, is it right to blame the site for what their children type? We have rules against this, and they expect us to do more.

I have one simple message:

If you came here in search of a "mate," to stay with your "mate," leave the site. This is NOT the place for it.
