I love Death Note. My favorite character is L *insert random fangirl scream here*. I believe what you heard is a rumor though its either a rumor or you got the date wrong. I hope the english dub is good.
Edit: No I got the rumor thing wrong...I just got proof by going to the adult swim official website to see and it said the show started at October: 20th.

I watched the english episode online (Adult Swim had it in the the videos section). I watched it online and my kitten wouldn't take his eyes off the screen for a minute, After seeing the english dub I thought that it was better than all of the other english dubs

I got into Death Note rather recently. I started watching it on [adult swim] and I've really enjoyed it so far(I've only seen episodes 1-5, so if you're gonna discuss spoilers, a few warnings would be nice).
Hey, has anyone heard of that murder in Belgium which has supposedly been linked to Death Note because of the note left at the scene? It said, "Watashi wa Kira desu," meaning "I am Kira." I wonder what it means.
