I see more and more people making accounts on that site.
I would just like to know the reasons that make you want to make an account there.
Personally, I have never liked Deviantart, especially its confusing interface - and so I don't understand it being so popular.
Are there things that you like there and that you can't find here? I'm not in your head, so this could maybe help me improve the site, to know what you would really want to see here.

DeviantART is a place for Many artists to go to - photographers, writers, and actual artists who draw, doodle, paint, colour, ect... I personally adore deviantART. It is the one art site that I am on that I will actually stay on for as long as I stay on the internet. I find deviantART a great way to meet new people who share interests as you do. You can find just about anything there (save a few things).

I got a deviantART, so more people could see my art. And help me to improve, so I could get better and draw at a level like Pample does (Not that I want her style, just to be able to draw so greatly).

Sure, deviantART has changed a lot over time. For better and for worse - but all websites do this, as I have seen. But over all, I still love the site. And I don't really find it confusing, but then again I tend (TEND, not always) to catch on to things fast. It may be confusing for new members, but you'll learn over time.

Well, I only go there because I'm more of a photographer, (not so much of a drawer... and it's not so easy to make Balto fanart using just a camera) and DeviantART is not only a place to just post art, but it's more interactive than just a place where you just post stuff.

I think the main reason people make accounts there is because they can post most kinds of artwork that would otherwise not be allowed here. Since this is a site that prefers Balto artwork, I think that most people post their non-Balto stuff on Deviant art.

But, that's just me.

Personally, I go to DeviantART (though rarely) because it has more lose rules to what you post (ex: anything you drew, larger files, prints, more gore pics).

But, more or less, it's a bit more bland that what we are here. You can post anything - while here is condemned to mainly wolves, lions, and less people. There, you can even post plant art. It's the same for "SheezyArt."

But, I have a DeviantART account before I came here, and I quit using DevianART (because I grew ere of it).

I have an account there mainly for variety, here it's only balto/TLK related (which is how it should be seeing as this is a fan-site for those movies XD) and because I can get awesome tutorials made by other artists to help me improve.
Also there are many wolf-fans there who don't like Balto as much or haven't heard of it or simply don't want want to join here who are also helpful in improvement.
Plus I can talk to other artists who are 1,000,000 times better than me who are more than happy to help out if I'm stuck on what to do to create certain effects like realistic fur and BGs.

The deviantArt is a huge community. I say it's a nice place, but altho really dangerous. That place is more spotted for theft since a wee while.. but despite that fact..
That place is good to meet new artists, to meet more talents and also learn from them
Yeah like the others said, it has all the categories which fits "art" ( furcons, fur suits, fan art, animations, photographies, manipulations, anthro, animals, fantasy, machines,.. etc)
Of course there are rules, mods, admins. And oh yes they have a forum too, don't forget about the articles where have adds
It also has the print account. It means you can sell your deviations for money , and you can also make commissions.
Special journal entires, especially for subscribed members. And all the fancy features, I personally like deviantart. But the bad thing is art theft, it's the most exposed fan art gallery-community ever..

I mainly joined it cause I wanted to meet more fellow artist and great personalities :P and to speak with them. I must say since I joined there (approximately 2 years ago) my style has developed a lot more.

(steet you should join devart  just to explore it XD and see yourself how it really is)

That's all what I wanted to say.

Oh yes and there are tons of other fan art communities than dA XP but yeah we pick the place where we can find our "friends" out there

I'm a member for multiple reasons:

Art-Related Reasons
1. To post and get feedback on my art (on more than just "wolfie" art)
2. To get critique so that I can work on improving
3. To hopefully make money (through commissions)

Social Reasons:
1.There's tons of people out there with similar interests to me
2. I can keep in contact with my online-friends ('cuz I rarely have time to IM)
3. I can meet new people
4. It's fairly easy to avoid people you have conflicts with

dA does have its faults (waaaaaaaaay too many immature brats of all ages), plus art theft is often an issue, and I often feel that not enough art is marked mature that should be. Plus it never works right XD

At first, I only went on DeviantART because of an art thief was taking just about my whole fanart-central.net gallery and posting it, claiming it as her own art, as well as art from other artists. So I went to chew that person out and get them banned. Then I decided to stay and keep up a gallery there to keep that person, or another, from thieving again. Now its just grown on me lol. I'm also going to sell some prints through the site. Already have some up. ;D
