I have just come home after a political party-conference/debate, and I have found out that the political party "Høyre" (Hoeire) wishes the norwegian wolf completely eradicated. "We want to aid Norwegian farmers in any way possible, which is exterminating the major threat to farmer's lifestock; the wolves. Even if we have to stand in a line in front of the swedish border and assassinate any wolf trying to enter Norway!" was the words of the representative, Kristian. By that time, I asked for the word. "So, if I have understood you correctly, you wish to completely eradicate the Norwegian wolf, thus neglecting and discriminating their natural right to survive, and the natural balance of the norwegian nature?" I asked him. "Wolves have no rights at all, they are simply predators, preying on farmers' lifestock. In any way possible, we will help the farmers achieve this."
I was barely able to keep myself in a leash. I really did want to go up to that guy, and give him a good right one. So, instead, I took to the Wolves' defense.
"You have absolutely no rights to discriminate the wolves, and far from killing them. The wolves are an endangered species in Norway, and you are saying you want to kill them all? What kind of (censored) is that?! How can you stand up there, promising to kill all the Norwegian wolves, and then expect to have your party elected?!" Those are my words, exactly. "The wolves are survivors. They feed to live, just as we humans do. The wolves kill to survive, just as we humans do! And don't come here with the 'wolves are a danger for children'-(censored)! You are more likely to be killed and eaten by your family dog! What you've said is a scandal, an outrage. The wolves have rights, and especially the right to live, just as we do! You say that the wolves are ferocious and dangerous, right? Have you ever seen some of the slaughtering methods we humans use? Let me tell you something; when most cows are slaughtered, they get a nail in their brain, and their throat is cut, and they bleed to death! They're very often still alive and conscious as well! Consider yourself before you judge others."
At this point, the other spectators started mumbling as well, and finally I had some backup. Actually, all the spectators supported me and my views. But no, we didn't make contact -.-' These kinds of people really piss me off, and I'm even more dedicated to saving the Norwegian wolf now. Even if it kills my education.

It makes me sick. Wolves are predators, and they are just trying kill to eat. People do far more damage to the environment than wolves do.

Wolves have a right to survive! They're not killers. They only kill for a reason. Has anyone heard about a group of VERY WELL ARMED German soldiers that disappeared when in the forest. They blamed wolves and now, most of them are killed, nearly extinct in Germany. It is very rare for wolves to even go any where near armed men, then even kill them. They could of been protecting pups, they could've been REALLY hungry, there are other reasons that I can't remember, but it's all true. If a well fed pack, that had no pups 'cause it was summer and the pups had grown, came across hikers, they wouldn't even touch them (as long as they weren't doing anything, but walking). Wolves aren't the ones to be blamed. Humans kill them, cut down their homes, and kill their prey. Everything has a reason to live so if they can't live, neither should we. Has the government even seen animal cruelty shows?! We do more harm to anything then anything else.
Where I was born, wolves have been extinct for decades, but there is enough room to put a wolf reserve cos there's hundreds of mountains and forests that they could run around in, bot noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo say the farmers. They're too worried about their sheep's lives. We eat them too! Why are they so selfish? It's their own fault if their killed cos they cut down trees to build the stinking farm! It just ain't right!
You kill a dog, everyone hates you. You kill a wolf, everyone loves you. I don't get it. Dogs are practically tamed wolves that just look a bit different. There's more chance of us getting killed by a scared horse than a calm wolf. If only humans were more like the Indians who believed that wolves weren't killers, but instead were connected to life.

That's totally barbaric, I absolutely agree with everyone above here is a clip from Wikipedia about how Shaun Ellis, the wolf-man may have discovered a way to prevent wolf attacks on livestock (edited and shortened to make it relevant). Quote: Shaun Ellis was called by a Polish farmer, whose livestock had suffered wolf attacks. Since wolves are a protected species in Poland the farmer hoped that Ellis might be able to find some non-violent way to deter the marauding pack. Ellis travelled to Poland to study the local pack, bringing with him audio recordings of wolf howls.
Ellis believed that if the local wolves heard howls coming from the farm they would believe another pack had already claimed it as their territory, and keep clear to avoid a conflict. In order for this to work Ellis had to determine the size of the pack and play back recordings of a similar-sized pack. Initial results were encouraging; in the first few weeks after the farmer began playing the recordings the farm suffered no further attacks. link to original article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaun_Ellis_(wolf_researcher)Good on you for standing up to them wolflux!
