Animal abuse leads to human abuse-see this website for examples: http://www.sniksnak.com/ac/connection.htmlPoor animals poor people, this is one reason punishments for those who abuse animals should be more severe. Animals have just as much feeling as humans and their abusers deserve proper punishment, in my opinion, even if they don't lead to human abuse. Sheba

Right as usual, Sheba!
This relationship has been demonstrated over and over and over again. And in my opinion, violence against animals is an atrocious enough thing in itself to deserve much harsher punishments than are often given, even if they haven't yet reached the violence-against-humans level. But some places are getting a clue and working on it; I did a report on one Arizona county that's starting to crack down on animal abuse cases two semesters ago.

Yet again we think alike, I totally agree with everything you say . Great news about Arizona animal welfare is getting better all over the world Sheba

I find it horrifying that people could be so heartless. Be humans or animals, it is atrocious.

Yah, it's the sad truth. People who take pleasure in abusing animals can also lead up to abusing people around them. In fact, many women who run away to safehavens after being abused claim that their partner started out by abusing pets.

Wether you like it or not, some people just don't give a monkies about animals. Some people either view them as "just animals" therefore not worthy of any compassion. Some people think that since animals are not as intellgent, they are not equal to humans (but that is another whole sticky issue).
Then there is a whole host of problems. Some people have genuine anger problems that lead to people hurting animals as a way of taking it out on them. Some really are sadistic and like hurting animals. Animal abuse happens for many reasons and it is not just a black and white issue. It is a sign of trouble abound and in my mind constant animal abuse should be met with tougher penalties within reason. Another thing is that if its been done at a young age then that person could have some problems that could be dealt with. For example I know soemone who used to kick the stuffing out of his dogs and throw cats in drawers due to his anger problem. With some help he finally cleared up and has become a better person over it. He now values animals a lot more and knows that has done wrong but has changed.
Giving someone with a problem like that help can potentially stop a whole host of other problems.

Perhaps the two are connected. I agree that in some sense they may be.
However, the sources from which those instances were found from are noticeably absent from the page, leading me to believe that these happenings are not real, and were made up on the spot to perhaps garner support.
Edit: .........Old topic.
