Wolf attacks Wild Reindeers!
For the first time in norwegian history, a wolf has attacked and killed wild reindeers.
The attack in Forelhogna wild reindeer-area in Os at Thursday is the first documented wolf-attack on named species.
Neckbite
A powerful neckbite in addition to an equally powerful bite in the throat killed the wild reindeer. After the kill, the wolf moved the fallen animal from the killsite to a marsh nearby. The trip went through a medium-sized lake and about 100meters upwards the river. "We saw the wolf drag the animal up over the Tverrfjell-river. Here, there are clear signs on the beasts intentions." is what Tor Stælhi and Andreas Reitan says to hognareinen.no.
Demands that the wolves leaves the national park!
"A main goal of the Forollhogna national park was to protect the wild reindeer's habitat." is what the park's daily leader, Arnfinn Nergård, says. "To protect the wolves" is therefore a threat towards the wild reindeer that inhabits the area, and he reacts aggressively to the answer he recieved, forbidding him to send out wolf-hunters.

The above is an exerpt of the newspaper I am holding right before me, and I find it really disturbing that people react this way on nature's cycle of life. Leave the wolves alone, for the sake of all good!
What're your reactions?

Well, what else are wolves supposed to eat? They can't just take a telephone and order a pizza. Besides, the wolves could be attacking domestic reindeer. I agree with everyone else. Nobody has a right to kill the wolves - or anything for that matter.

Typical humans, it's just an excuse to kill wolves, I mean its no if they killed cattle or sheep Even then ther is no excuse here is a clip from Wikapedia about how Shaun Ellis, the wolf-man may have discovered a way to prevent wolf attacks on livestock (edited and shortened to make it relevant). Quote: Shaun Ellis was called by a Polish farmer, whose livestock had suffered wolf attacks. Since wolves are a protected species in Poland the farmer hoped that Ellis might be able to find some non-violent way to deter the marauding pack. Ellis travelled to Poland to study the local pack, bringing with him audio recordings of wolf howls.
Ellis believed that if the local wolves heard howls coming from the farm they would believe another pack had already claimed it as their territory, and keep clear to avoid a conflict. In order for this to work Ellis had to determine the size of the pack and play back recordings of a similar-sized pack. Initial results were encouraging; in the first few weeks after the farmer began playing the recordings the farm suffered no further attacks. link to origonal article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaun_Ellis_(wolf_researcher)Sheba

Strawberry Splash wrote: Sheba, I am not joking. I will be a hunter. When I am older, I hope to be a horse breeder. I DO NOT want wolves harrassing my horses, ponies and relatives of the horse. If I really have to, then I will use a M2 Submachine Gun to kill the whole wolf pack. Whateva! I'll hunt wolves if I want! No offense, but you're leaving the subject of this topic. Plus, again no offense, but you sound kind...of....well...slightly psychotic... Wolves attacking horses, how many times has that happened? A submachine gun? Sure...
