Most of us probably know about Steve Irwin, for any who don’t, Steve Irwin, or the Crocodile Hunter was an Australian wildlife expert and TV personality.
I read something that suggests he made a fatal mistake.

He was killed when he got to close to a stingray; he was pierced in the heart and died. But he probably wouldn’t have died if he hadn’t made a fatal mistake-he pulled the barb, which was embedded in his heart out and bled to death.

Just a month later a man in Florida was also pierced in the heart by a stingray when it jumped out of the water and hit him. But he survived, he left the barb in, and it was later removed medically.

Conclusion: Both men were pierced in threat by a stingray barb-but the Florida man didn’t pull it out like Steve did and, and so he survived.

Even Steve can make mistakes...in this case it was deadly. At least we learned something from it...

Stingrays are some of my favorite animals. But I was shocked and VERY upset when I heard about Steve's death. It took me some time to get over. I guess I felt as if I knew him. Obviously he wasn't invincible...he always knew what he did was extremely dangerous stuff...I hope it's how he would've wanted to go, doing what he loved most and being out in nature. I know he certainly wouldn't have blamed the ray, at any rate. R.I.P., Steve... :(

Yeah, I heard about this too. But, think about it; if something just stabbed you, what would your first instinct be? To pull it out.

So technically, we can't blame him..

Yeah...I'm sure I'd have done the same. If there's only one good thing about Steve's death, it's that now we know: if you get stung in the chest, don't yank it out yourself.

I loved watching the Crocidile Hunter. Maybe God decided that it was just his time. I also read that after his death, many stingrays were found on the beach, dead and without tail. Even if we all loved him that doesn't mean people should try and revenge. It was very sad for me actually.

Seriously?
It was rather sad that he died but he had a good life. But stingrays don't deserve that...

People did that? I don't think Steve would want them to kill those stingrays ): . It was a big shock for me when I found out he had died. I never really watched his show, but I can never believe it when someone well known dies. It just feels...strange to me.

That was really sad...Well, he died the way he lived, with animals. He was our wildlife warrior. :(

That's the last thing Steve would want his fans to do; why couldn't they see that?

Those poor stingrays. Kinda reminds of a time I saw on the news when there was going to be a huge cull of kangaroos in Australia, just because ONE person was attacked.

To make matters worse, PETA used his death as an excuse to bash his memory - saying that he 'harmed animals for money.' Well, I'd rather listen to Steve Irwin's 'love all nature' message than PETA's 'all people who eat meat are evil' message.

you're right-it would be a natural instinct, it just goes to show not all natural instincts are good.
i will miss him, and his shows.

I heard about the killing of the stingrays too warriorcat*ndog it was definitely not right.
I expect it was partly from fear and partly from revenge. That's the problem with some humans, they judge all of a species/religion/race/human type etc others by what one did-unlike animals!

I never heard about that one Canis Lupus-my opinion on it is the same as above.

He definitely wouldn't have Owned by a Golden Retriever, if he could know he would be furious. it's not even as if they killed the actual stingray that would be bad enough-but to kill others.... I wander if people use events like this as an excuse to kill animals?
