Do we have a right to eat animals? I think we do-but we need to farm, kill and transport them humanely.
No factory farming, make transporting animals as humane as possible etc. Eat only free-range eggs and try to buy humanely farmed meat-etc research to see what is available where you live

I personally don't like the idea of eating animals, so I have a minimal amount of meat. And then only what's gotten in a relatively humane way, as Sheba says. I totally agree with you. On the one hand, I can accept that we're animals and some animals eat other animals. On the other hand I feel like, if I have the option to not have an animal killed for me, why not take it? Other animals might not have that choice available but I do. So ultimately...I'm with Sheba...if you're going to have animals sacrificed for food, it better be in a way that offers them the best life and the least suffering possible. Because when evil cruelty is involved without the slightest thought for the pain that's being caused..well..IMO that's unacceptable and bad for everyone...ever seen The Meatrix? I'm thinking about one day farming and raising chickens for eggs; obviously I'd do that in a way that satisfies my principles about the rights of animals.

If they are farmed correctly then yes.
A couple of my friends are vegetarians and when I hear them talking about that sort of thing it makes me sort of want to be one too because I feel sorry for the animals. Then I think, "hello!" wolves are carnivores! They hunt down and literally tear apart their food.
I think humans were meant to eat meat just like many other animals on this planet. It doesn't make it right for us to put them through terrible conditions before hand though.

yupik wrote: -_- Yes we do. We need meat to survive. Dying is apart of life. Not all slaughterhouses are cruel. (if any ) There is a REASON we KILL animals. They don't kill them because they're just there. If that was the problem, the slaughterhouses wouldn't be open! There would be no animals on the market shelves. Simple logic. Well put yupik, contrary to what PETA says we need animal products in our diet-vegans are not health people according to a friend who has knowledge in such matters. and I have a friend who is practically a vegan-and her health isn't great. Thanx

Well, you hear lots of different viewpoints on that; plenty of people hold that being vegetarian or vegan is much healthier than eating meat. And those who adopt one of those lifestyles seem to be just fine. I know a few of each and that's the case. For several years I was a complete vegetarian and it made no difference to me. You have to do it right, of course, you still can't just eat only one type of thing.

well yeah? i mean why not ask dogs "do you have right to eat chickens ect" or a lion " should you realy eat that zebra"
sorry for being harsh but unless you are allergic to meat then no one should be vegatarian? because humans were evolved to eat meat!

Yes. Yes we have the right to eat meat. I mean without meat our anscetors wouldn't have gotten the protein they needed for their brains to form and we'd all just be apes. XD I love animals...But really, I've been eating KFC while watching a documentary on Wolves as they ate a carcass. It doesn't bother me. Like people have said. Asking if we should eat meat is like asking a wolf if they should eat a caribou. If we worry about everything there's not gonna be time to live the present. We'd all be worrying about everything as we turned in our graves wouldn't you think? The way I'm putting it may sound harsh but it's what I believe. And I believe if it tastes good; eat it. My cousin has the nerve to tell me what bacon's made out of...I don't care. Do you think lions care if they're eating a zebra lung? Or anything of the sort? No. They NEED the protein. Like us. As for me, I rarely eat vegetables. I ate greenbeans once but they were wrapped in turkey...I love corn and potatoes but that's where it ends...
Look, short and simple; we have a right to eat animals. I mean if everyone ate vegetables the animal populations would SKY ROCKET! They did a study on this sorta thing:
There was an island inhabited by moose and a few wolves. They take wolves away. A year later disease had killed half the herd. You know why? THERE WERE NO PREDATORS TO KEEP THE POPULATION DOWN. When they reintroduced the predators, they moose herd was helthy and able to feed new calves and such...
So you see, if we didn't eat meat, the animal population would increase and animals would be catching diseases and dying anyway...

Ok, I agree with most of you-but humans eating meat isn't the same as wild animals eating meat.
Wild Carnevours ar part of the balance of nature, humans, eating farmed meat are not,it isnt comparable.
Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone! Very very true. And I can't subscribe to the "if it tastes good, eat it" philosophy. I don't know about you, but I feel some kind of responsibility to know that a creature who's had his/her life taken for me didn't suffer some infernal treatment first. It's so easy to ignore it because it doesn't have to happen in front of us. When I really stop and think about what meat literally is, especially certain kinds, I get pretty grossed out. Of course, I LOVE veggies. Veggies and fruits and grains. Lentils, nuts, beans--LOADED with protein, baby!
