remember in the scene where the dogs race to see who's going to be on the antitoxin run team Dixie says (about Steele)

"Just look at him, hes going to ave the whole town, hes positively magnesium"

I've never been able to figure it out, What dose she mean byMagnesium?

I have the definition of magnesium below:

A light, silvery-white, moderately hard metallic element that in ribbon or powder form burns with a brilliant white flame. It is used in structural alloys, pyrotechnics, flash photography, and incendiary bombs. Atomic number 12; atomic weight 24.305; melting point 649°C; boiling point 1,090°C; specific gravity 1.74 (at 20°C); valence 2.
I got it from(link):
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/magnesium

Perhaps it's an American expression I'm not aware of being English?

I look forward to hearing what you think.

Yeah, I thought it was weird too xD
I think that she was maybe trying to say something that made him sound amazing and was going to say "magnifecent" but came out with that. Not sure heh.

Magnesium is pretty much the colour of a steele grey when its not in powdered form, so I'm sure this was just to emphasize his character.

Yeah, I pretty much agree...I always took it as a sort of joke (from the writers.) "Magnesium" just sounds like a great word to express how she feels about him although she doesn't seem to know what it really means..it's a joke to illustrate how ditzy she can be. XD

Dixie knows she's high class, so she figures that using big words would convey her status. The humor is that she uses all the words wrong. This exposes that Dixie is really just a rich air-head. You find the same kind of humor in O Henry short stories, particularly in "Ransom of Red Chief". The thieves tried to make themselves sound smart by using big words but they're all the wrong words. It's a complex style of humor and most kids don't pick up on it.

Well, magnesium is easily lit and burns a brilliant white flame that pains the eye to look at.

Sort of like Steele!

No, it's a joke. She means to say 'magnificent' but she uses the incorrect word. At the end of the movie, she calls him 'disposable' when she actually is searching for the word 'despicable'. It's part of the "Dixie is the attractive, but daffy, dog of the group" shtick they were running.

Hum... In the french version, Dixie say 'magnetic' instead of 'magnesium', and 'despiciable' instead of 'disposable', so I guess in the french version Dixie isn't blondheaded! :roll:

Well... For the original version, I think she wanted to say magnifecent or something like that but she didn't found the right word, so she said an other one, just to feel clever ... :mrgreen:
