I like the fell beasts from The Lord of the Rings. What is your favorite fictional specie?

Hmm....
From LotR I liked the Ents.

My first thought for this question was the Fwooper, a magical creature from the Harry Potter-verse:

I would say dragons, but a number of things lead me to believe that they actually existed at one time (Job chapter 41 for a start). So I guess I'd probably pick one of the aliens from Ben 10, like maybe Stinkfly (aka Lepidopterran).

Dragons count, although there are a growing number of people like me who believe that they are or were at least somewhat based on fact. It's guaranteed that not everything in books is true, but stuff like breathing fire, harding treasure, and other behaviors of that sort can and have been scientifically explained. In other words, there's nothing to say they couldn't have been real once, and a whole lot saying they could. I know this is sort of off-topic, but I just wanted to answer your question.

ooooh I love every mythical creature in harrypotter!!! especially the house elves like Dobby oh and Fluffy and Norbit the dragon! I love them all there all great!

For me, I would say my favorite fictional species would be Dragons(European, preferably), and Phoenixes. I can't think of others at the moment.

wearedoomed: The hydra exists. It is a simple freshwater animal. (Unless you were talking about a fictional animal that shares the same name.)

I think it's kind of annoying that everybody on here seems to be talking about Harry Potter. I mean, the creatures in those stories may be neat, but with all the swearing, drug references, gore, and real-world occult parallels, you can bet that if I had kids I wouldn't let them touch those books. I mean, what about Mr. Tumnus and the other creatures of Narnia. Now those books have quality. Let's have some variety, people!

I like vampire bats,and kiwi birds (OMG those aren't fake! >.< XD)

But I really like cerberus.
