Anyone here like sharks? I love them. And once you look past their aggresiveness you may find them to be actually very cute. My favorite shark is the Great white shark because they are just plan awesome!
PS:Shark week is on the Discovery channel!

Sharks are awesome animals! They're related to rays, which are some of my favorite animals in the world... For my birthday this year I went for a swim in the public aquarium's shark and ray tanks, it was COOL.

I like sharks too, they are not like the stereotype created by movies like Jaws. I also like Rays and have swam with wild ones and even fed them! I did this in Grand Cayman (a Caribbean Island) and also Bora Bora a pacific polynesian island. They are fed squid and don't sting anyone though they occasionally bite people by accident. I was bitten when I didn't get my fingers out of the way in time. They don't have teeth as such but bony plates so there was no blood, it was more like someone had stamped on my fingers. we had a funny story though, in Grand Cayman, where dive boats bring tourists to feed the Rays with squid and swim with them. There was one poor guy who didn't have ant squid so my dad gave him some. he held it in the water looking for a Ray- and a Yellow Snapper grabbed it out of his hand! my dad gave him another bit, this time he held it above his head and a tern grabbed it! Poor guy! http://www.stingraycitytrips.com/photo_album/index.shtml http://www.cayman.org/divesite/stingray.htmSheba

Poor guy! Sheba Oooh, LUCKY! That's where I want to go and what I want to do there! I've heard about that swimming with the rays at the Cayman Islands. I've only fed them in captivity (but then I've hardly ever gone to beachy places anyway.)

I like several shark species...for example, Leopard sharks are really pretty. The ones in the aquarium tank I went into were Sandbar and Sand Tiger sharks. As to being afraid of or freaked out by them,...well, no, I wasn't. I think all the people watching were far more afraid than I was. XD It's not that I think I'm uber-brave or anything. Even though it was a captive, pretty controlled environment, there are always inherent risks, and the sharks came literally within inches of your face. What I felt then was a mixture of awe, wonder, admiration, inspiration, etc., but not fear. Whether in an aquarium or the ocean (or any wild animal habitat--it's their home, after all) I'd regard any wild animals I might come across with wariness and respect, of course. Especially a creature like a shark, many of which ARE potentially dangerous predators. But to be perfectly honest, whitewolf, no animal scares me more than the human being! Sharks are a common animal to be afraid of...blame "Jaws," I suppose...but I don't think fearing them is the thing to do...I do believe shark attacks account for a shockingly small number of human deaths compared with other causes of death...
