There has been talk in the past about the scene in which Steele throws Balto and he hits the rock. Many seem to think that blood droplets shoot up from Balto's head. I don't, I think they are small bits of snow reflecting the sunset.
What do you think?

Hmmm.. when I first saw the movie, I was sure it was blood. After the droplets go flying upwards, they seem to drip, like the way blood drips. It has also been argued that it was rock that went flying upwards behind his head with the impact of his head hitting the rock. And as you said.. it could be snow

But I still think it's blood. There is no proof of this.. it's just my opinion

if you ask me they were rocks that went flying. I don´t think they would put blood in to a kids movie but you can always think it´s blood if like.

The fact that there is no blood in the next few scenes must be obvious that it wasnt blood right? No blood patches on Balto's fur either

Yup, agreed. This is why I think it's blood

Err you think that if they aint gunna have blood showing next then why would they have Balto cough it out when he hits the rock? I used to think it was Blood but if its only a little blood then more should come out, when you bleed the cut doesnt heal in 2 seconds and if the animators were worried about showing blood that much then they wouldnt have shown it in the first place coming off Balto...despite him being silohuetted (sp?)

If it were blood, Balto would've had a limp when he started running the sled.

But the blood appeared to come from his throat/head, not his leg.

Anyway, I think it's blood. It's enough to make the fight scene a little more realistic, but not enough to be "eww omg sick". Unless you're really sensitive. In fact, one time I saw a topic for "Disturbing Cartoons" or something like that, and somebody put the fight scene because of the blood/snow/rock/small children. Honestly? It was a few drops. Now, compare that to things like Watership Down, where animals are ripping each other to shreds, or Wolf's Rain which has an insane amount of blood.

Aaaand, to sum up my point and get back on topic:

I think that's enough proof.

I always thought it was rocks, I just took a look at that scene, looks like blood to me.

I think I have to agree it's blood now.
